The Education Department at PTC has announced its upcoming Dramatic Academy Season.

"After seeing the growth and success of our programs this summer, I can't wait to see what the full year brings!" says Director of Education and Outreach Jasmine Ireland. "Clearly there is a vibrant energy surrounding the Education Department right now. The new Dramatic Academy program is ambitious and exciting; I think it will be what makes PTC a distinctive place to explore the arts."

This year's offerings will give students aged four and up the opportunity to explore the performing arts through a variety of classes, workshops, and performances. Dramatic Academy is committed to providing the highest quality; comprehensive theater training that actively instructs within a performance setting and practically applies these techniques to performance.

For young people, PTC will offer three sessions of classes throughout the school year led by experienced industry professionals. Each session will culminate in a final production.

For 2013-14, Tiny Thespian and Youth Troupe students will perform "The Witches" based on the novel by Roald Dahl, "The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe," and "Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass." Students are eligible to enroll in individual fall, winter, or spring sessions or save money by registering for the entire year!

Tiny Thespian Session: $225 Series: $600 + day of free vacation camp.
Youth Troupe Session: $400 Series: $1100 + day of free vacation camp.

In addition to production based session, Dramatic Academy will continue its highly popular February and April Vacation camps during school breaks. Each day a new topic regarding the performing arts is explored, and a guest artist specializing in that area makes a visit! Students are invited to attend any or all days of camps. Students who register for yearlong series receive some days of camp free!

Vacation Camp: $50/day

Teens and adults now have the opportunity to study with Penobscot Theatre! Throughout the year, a series of ten master classes will give the community access to our visiting artists. Workshops on a variety of topics including comedia dell'arte, audition technique, broadway choreography and much more will be led by esteemed artists such as Jacob Augustine, Nathan Halvorson, and Kappy Kilburn.

Individual Class: $25 Series: $200

Due to its past popularity, PTC will also expand its current Improv class with resident artist Brad LaBree to include three sessions throughout the year. Class curriculum will range from basic to advanced skills as session's progress. Each session will conclude in a public showcase.

Session: $150 Series: $350

To make programs accessible for all, registration is available per session or at a reduced rate when you register for the entire series. Payment plans are now available and can be arranged by contacting Corleen Iannazzi at corleen@penobscottheatre.org or 947-6618.

Dramatic Academy student and Education Intern Alek Sayers had this to say about his experience with the program, "Penobscot Theatre's Dramatic Academy is a great program and I am glad to hear about the variety of year-round classes are now offering. I'm so thankful that I've been able to be involved so much with their summer sessions over the past couple months. It's obvious that the teachers here have a lot to teach and are very excited to teach youth and adults of all ages. Every day offered me something new to learn and a friendly face to help me understand; I couldn't have asked for a better time!"
