Symphony Space, New York's home for innovative and diverse cultural programming on the Upper West Side, celebrates its 35th season of Music programs in 2013-14 with a stellar array of artists in imaginative, thought-provoking presentations. Curated by Artistic Director Laura Kaminsky, the offerings range from marathon celebrations to intimate recitals, encompassing a rich variety of musical styles. Highlights include a visit from Krzysztof Penderecki, October 25; the fifth THE MUSIC OF NOW MARATHON, with the dream-inspired theme of 'REM: Rapid Ear Movement,' February 1; and appearances by Dar Williams, Tom Paxton, Christine Lavin, and other icons of folk/acoustic music. Capping the season is SLEEPING AROUND, a multidisciplinary festival celebrating the culture, history, art, scene, and scandal of New York's most famous hotels, highlighted by WALL TO WALL SLEEPING AROUND on May 3.

The Muny's Les Miserables opened last night, July 15. The fifth show of The Muny's fantastic 95th Season is directed by Richard Jay-Alexander. Last seen at The Muny in 2007, LES MISERABLES has been one of the most popular musicals since it opened in London in 1985. For the millions of U.S. fans who fell in love with the astonishing talent of Il Volo following their show stopping PBS Special Il Volo Takes Flight, or as special guests of Barbra Streisand's fall 2012 tour, the boys will return to North America for a series of 17 concerts, heading to the Fox Theatre on Thursday, September 5 at 7:30 p.m.; Il Volo made their Fox Theatre debut in 2011.

On Friday evening, May 24, Playbill's Blake Ross and BroadwayWorld.com's Rob and Jennifer Diamond co-hosted the only birthday party that took two editors of two major theatre web sites to plan ... Director/Producer Richard Jay-Alexander's 60th Birthday Bash! The party, held on the third floor of theatre district hot spot Angus McIndoe's restaurant, played host to friends, family, colleagues and more, so we couldn't resist sharing some of Linda Lenzi's wonderful pictures with you.
