Shots ring out at a London theatre, and suddenly Richard Hannay finds himself hiding a mysterious woman in his flat.

The final two weeks of performances have begun for Alfred Hitchcock's THE 39 STEPS . On Sunday, January 16th at 3:00PM, the hit comedy will play their final performance at New World Stages following 318 performances Off-Broadway and over 1,100 total performances in New York City.

Due to overwhelming box office demand, the Guthrie Theater today announced the addition of five performances to the run of their smash hit production of The 39 Steps, a fast-paced and hilarious comedic thriller that celebrates the magic of theater.

The theatre's most outrageous, outlandish, uproarious, comic thriller, THE 39 STEPS, explodes onto the stage at TheatreWorks, the nationally acclaimed theater of Silicon Valley. Adapted by Patrick Barlow from the book by John Buchan and the movie by Alfred Hitchcock, this hilarious spoof abounds with chicanery, espionage, dastardly murders, double-crossing secret agents, and devastatingly beautiful women. Called 'Absurdly enjoyable, gleefully theatrical...a perfect soufflé,' by The New York Times, THE 39 STEPS features four fearless actors playing dozens of roles and creating trains, planes, moors, and more, with little more than the coats on their backs in a wildly funny flight to the height of theatrical invention. Featuring Mark Anderson Phillips, Cassidy Brown, Rebecca Dines, and Dan Hiatt, with TheatreWorks Founding Artistic Director Robert Kelley at the helm, THE 39 STEPS plays January 19-February 13 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts. Florida Studio Theatre and the Selby Public Library will present a joint discussion on the popular book, film, and play, 'The 39 Steps.' The discussion will be led by Susan Rife, Books editor from the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, and Sheffield Chastain, FST actor, and some additional cast members of 'The 39 Steps.' It is free to the public and will take place in Selby Public Library's Gelbhart Auditorium on December 16 at 2:00pm. Books are available at the library, and the Sarasota community is encouraged to read the book and watch the play.

Vertigo Mystery Theatre presents the comedic Olivier and Tony Award winning mystery The 39 Steps, adapted by Patrick Barlow from the novel by John Buchan and the movie by Alfred Hitchcock, in The Playhouse at The Vertigo Theatre Centre November 13 - December 12.

This season, along with Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol - A Ghost Story of Christmas, which runs on the Hubbard Stage, the Alley Theatre will once again present a second holiday production, David Sedaris' The Santaland Diaries on the Neuhaus Stage. Alley Artist Todd Waite will reprise his role as 'Crumpet the Elf' in the outlandish, and true, chronicles of David Sedaris' experience as a worker in Macy's SantaLand display. Also this season, for select performances Alley Artist Paul Hope will appear as 'Crumpet the Elf': December 8 at 7:30 PM, December 9 at 7:30 PM, December 10 at 6:00 PM and Saturday, December 11 at 2:30 PM.

The production will have played 23 previews and 318 performances Off-Broadway and over 1,100 total performances in New York City.
