Due to overwhelming box office demand, the Guthrie Theater today announced the addition of five performances to the run of their smash hit production of The 39 Steps, a fast-paced and hilarious comedic thriller that celebrates the magic of theater. Originally scheduled to run through December 19, The 39 Steps is extended through December 26, with five added performances on sale now. This is the second time the Guthrie has added performances of this runaway box office hit since its opening week, when three shows were added.

Hailed by Mpls.St.Paul Magazine as "raucously silly" and "an endearing, laugh-a-minute production," The 39 Steps features tour de force performances by a cast of four actors - Robert O. Berdahl as the intrepid hero Richard Hannay; Sarah Agnew as both Annabella Schmidt, a beautiful spy with a deadly secret, and Pamela, Hannay's reluctant sidekick and love interest; and Jim Lichtscheidl and Luverne Seifert, two of Minnesota's greatest comedic actors as more than 150 characters, putting their many skills to the test. Joel Sass (9 Parts of Desire, Pericles) directs the production City Pages calls "a pure delight!"

The 39 Steps continues performances at the Guthrie Theater through December 26. Single tickets are on sale through the Guthrie Box Office at 612.377.2224, toll-free 877.44.STAGE, 612.225.6244 (Group Sales) and online at www.guthrietheater.org.
