There ain't no party like a Groundhog Day party! After sustaining an injury onstage last week during his performance in GROUNDHOG DAY, leading man Andy Karl went on in the role of Phil Connors for yesterday's opening night. Based on the iconic film, GROUNDHOG DAY The Musical is reimagined by the award-winning creators of the international hit Matilda The Musical-including director Matthew Warchus and songwriter Tim Minchin-with a book by original screenwriter Danny Rubin. Starring two-time Tony Award® nominee Andy Karl, GROUNDHOG DAY is the new musical comedy about living life to the fullest, one day at a time. Meet the cast before they take their opening bows!

The Groundhog Day cast was in the recording studio this weekend finishing up work on the show's Original Broadway Cast Recording. Pre-sales for the album, soon to be available on Masterworks Broadway/Broadway Records, are now available on iTunes and Amazon. The album will released digitally on April 14 and in stores on May 5. It is produced by Chris Nightingale, Michael Croiter, and Tim Minchin.

To take the sting out of this morning's news from Punxsutawney PA predicting six more weeks of winter, the producers of the eagerly anticipated Broadway musical comedy Groundhog Day announce a national sweepstakes to give away the first preview performance at the August Wilson Theatre (245 West 52nd Street) on Thursday, March 16. Opening night is April 17.

Award-winning composer/jazz pianist Fred Hersch, who turns 60 on October 21st, collaborates with acclaimed poet/playwright Mary Jo Salter for ROOMS OF LIGHT, a staged song cycle for five singers, with a set, lighting design and a chamber ensemble. This is Fred's third commission for Peak Performances and the acoustic splendor of the Alexander Kasser Theater is the perfect venue for his adventurous and beautiful music.
