The Aquila Theatre Company is proud to announce the launch of it's new You|Stories program with a staged reading of "A Female Philoctetes" (based on Sophocles' classic "Philoctetes",) running at BAM Fisher's Hillman Studio from April 16 to April 19, with performances at 7 pm. You|Stories in an innovative national program, funded in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities, that uses arts and humanities to explore the ancient and modern narratives of war.

With its skill at creating innovative and modern productions of great works of literature, the Aquila Theatre will bring Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury's visionary parable of a society gone awry, to new life at The Harris Center for the Arts. The New Yorker describes Aquila's productions as 'The classics made relevant with superb acting and clever staging' while the New York Times exclaims 'Aquila's productions are beautifully spoken, dramatically revealing and crystalline in effect.'

Queens Theatre (QT), in conjunction with the acclaimed Aquila Theatre, presents William Shakespeare's TWELFTH NIGHT, an innovative and exciting new production directed by Aquila Theatre Artistic Director, Desiree Sanchez (BAM's Herakles). TWELFTH NIGHT will play 4 performances only at Queens Theatre (14 United Nations Avenue South, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens, NY 11368). Performances are Friday, February 14, 2014 at 2pm, Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 2pm and 8pm, and Sunday, February 16, 2014 at 3pm. Tickets are $42 for Friday?s performance and $49 for Saturday and Sunday performances; Rear seating $25 (for all performances). As part of Aquila Theatre's National Endowment for the Humanities Chairman Special Award 3 year public program, Ancient Greeks / Modern Lives, four post-performance talks will be held after each performance of Herakles at BAM Fisher. Noted scholars will join combat veterans who have been involved in the project to discuss the themes of the play as they relate to the experience of the veteran community in America today and the wider society within which they live.

First staged to great acclaim at the Theater de la Porte St. Martin in 1897, Cyrano became one of the most famous French plays of the late 19th century. The story, based on a true historical figure, still attracts audiences today. Beautifully funny, poignant and heart wrenching, "Cyrano de Bergerac" remains one of the most popular romantic tales in all world literature. Through Aquila Theatre's trademark attention to movement and the visual arts, Cyrano's passionate journey takes us from the streets of Paris to the battlefield of Arras and the cloisters of the convent where this exquisite story reaches its emotional conclusion.
