Bay Street Theatre is celebrating Black History Month in February with special programming throughout the month.

New York City Ballet announced today that due to popular demand the Company will add a performance of Peter Martins' full-length production of Swan Lake to its 2011 winter performance calendar.

February dates are Saturday Feb 12th, Wednesday , February 16, and Friday February 25th. The last January show is Wednesday January 19th.

Through the recurring Peter Martin Music: Live series, Martin showcases jazz masters past and present in an intimate and casual setting. Special Music for Lifelong Achievement Instrument Drive! MFLA and Horns to Havana have teamed up to collect and send musical instruments, both donated and purchased, to students in schools in and around Havana, Cuba. Donate a used musical instrument at any concert during February and March, or bring your donations to The Sheldon during normal business hours, Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

New York City Ballet's 2011 winter repertory performances will begin on Tuesday, January 18, kicking off with an all-Balanchine program consisting of Walpurgisnacht Ballet, Duo Concertant, Valse-Fantaisie and The Four Temperaments, and will continue for six weeks, through Sunday, February 27, with performances of more than 27 different ballets from NYCB's unparalleled repertory. All performances will take place at the Company's home, the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

Peter Martins, Ballet Master in Chief of the New York City Ballet, announced today that the Company will launch a new performance group called New York City Ballet Moves during the summer of 2011. Consisting of a small group of artists from the full company, New York City Ballet Moves will provide an opportunity to showcase NYCB's dancers and repertory in venues that might not be able to present the full company for financial or technical reasons. Martins will select a rotating group of performers from NYCB's roster of dancers and musicians to participate in the group's engagements.

Raised in St. Louis, and with strong roots in the New Orleans jazz scene, Peter Martin is an accomplished pianist, producer, arranger and composer, and has traveled the world and played with today's finest jazz musicians, from Diane Reeves to Wynton Marsalis.
