The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has confirmed that Hugh Jackman will host the 81st annual Academy Awards.The Academy said Friday that the 40-year-old Australian actor, recently named People magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive,' will host the Oscars.

Hugh Jackman is scheduled to appear on Jimmy Kimmel December 4th and The View December 5th in promotion of his new film 'AUSTRALIA.' The film takes place in northern Australia prior to World War II. An English aristocrat inherits a cattle station the size of Maryland. According to a spokesperson, Ms. Cook is suffering a bad cold and the event will be rescheduled for January.
