Beck Releases 'Tarantula,' Music Inspired By The Film ROMA

Beck's first musical offering of 2019 has arrived in the form of "Tarantula," the latest release from Music Inspired By The Film ROMA, due out February 8th from Sony Music Masterworks and available to pre-order now. This collection of music inspired by Alfonso Cuaron's 10-time Academy Award-nominated film features songs from Beck, Billie Eilish, El-P, Jessie Rye, Laura Marling, Patti Smith, UNKLE and more, recorded exclusively for this project. 

Take A Virtual Reality Journey Through Space At SPHERES Now Open At Rockefeller Center

SPHERES the acclaimed three-part virtual reality series is now open to the public for the first time at New York's iconic Rockefeller Center through March 3, 2019. New Yorkers and visitors will have the unique opportunity to purchase tickets to see all three 15 minute episodes using an Oculus Rift headset in a custom-designed screening room at Rockefeller Center. Tickets are limited.

Tired of the same old Christmas Carol? Downtown Music Productions presents A Chamber Christmas Carol at the gorgeous St. Mark's Church-in-the-Bowery. Composer Ray Leslee (Avenue X, Standup Shakespeare) has created a brand-new take on the holiday season's most prolific tale. This ONE NIGHT ONLY event features a virtuoso company of five musicians and five actors who play 35 roles, telling the classic tale through Leslee's music and selections from Dickens' masterpiece. Tom Ligon (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo) stars as Scrooge. The cast includes Mark Boyett, Jack McCarthy, JD Mollison and Alex Sunderhaus. The musicians are Broadway veterans Jack Bashkow (woodwinds), Jeff Carney (bass), Marshall Coid (violin), Ron Hay (trombone) and Mimi Stern-Wolfe at the piano. Margarett Perry directs.

Field Day Unveils a New UK Festival Location for 2019

Field Day 2019 will mark an evolution of gigantic proportions as it moves to a ground-breaking new location in Meridian Water, North London. Situated next to Tottenham Marshes at an old gas works, the new site is made up of an enormous ten-acre outdoor space with four giant, interlinked warehouses, the largest of which will be the biggest warehouse venue for music in the city (7,500 cap). The move will allow Field Day to go later than any other festival in London and present its biggest line-up to date. Sign up for exclusive access to tickets. Robert Mapplethorpe is arguably one of the most important artists of the 20th century. Mapplethorpe discovered himself both sexually and artistically in New York City throughout the 70's and 80's. The film depicts Mapplethorpe's life from moments before he and Patti Smith moved into the famed Chelsea hotel, home to a world of bohemian chic. Here, he begins photographing its inhabitants and his new found circle of friends including artists and musicians, socialites, film stars, and members of the S&M underground.
