La MaMa is proud to present the Remote Theater Project production of Grey Rock, written and directed by Palestinian artist Amir Nizar Zuabi. This world premiere, which runs January 3-7, 2019, was commissioned by Remote Theater Project and marks the first time a U.S. theater company has commissioned a Palestinian artist to create an original work for American audiences. Grey Rock tells the story of a young Palestinian so enamored with the 1969 American moon landing that he muses, "shouldn't Palestine, the land of prophets, also have a presence on the moon?" Without money or technology, but with the help of his bemused West Bank neighbors, he sets out to build a space shuttle. Knowing full well that he can't succeed with this impossible, but necessary, task, the young man is visited by American heroes who guide him on his mission. Humorous and fantastical, Grey Rock explores the influence that America has had over Palestinian culture.

Chance Theater is thrilled to announce its 21st Anniversary Season, which will be the fifth to employ both stages in its home at the Bette Aitken theater arts Center. Next year will feature eight fully-staged productions.

My Brightest Diamond is excited to announce the November 23rd release of her new full-length studio album – A Million And One – via Rhyme & Reason Records.  My Brightest Diamond's Shara Nova produced the new LP along with Grammy-nominated producer Anthony “The Twilite Tone” Khan (Gorillaz, Kanye West, Common) and the 10-song set was mixed by Grammy-award winning engineer Andrew Scheps (Adele, Lana Del Rey).  Nova really honed in on her song form, a purposeful move after previously pushing herself to break out of traditional song writing devices.  She wrote more than fifty songs in the process ultimately narrowing this down to the ten that are A Million And One.

Last night Taylor Mac performed a stirring rendition of Patti Smith's iconic "People Have the Power" on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, with members of Stay Human, the Jon Batiste-fronted house band, and Mac's own ensemble. Taylor also chatted with Stephen about A 24-Deacde History of Popular Music among other topics.

Sakina's Restaurant, the Obie Award-winning play written and performed by actor, writer, and former correspondent for "The Daily Show" Aasif Mandvi (Disgraced), is excited to collaborate with New American Economy (NAE), a national organization bringing together leaders in support of immigration reforms, for a night of conversation with Mandvi and NAE Executive Director, Jeremy Robbins. The conversation will take place following the 8pm performance of Sakina's Restaurant on Wednesday, October 24 and will be open to those attending the performance that evening.

On Wednesday, September 26, SAKS FIFTH AVENUE hosted a performance and book signing with author and singer-songwriter PATTI SMITH as part of Saks' 'FEARLESS WOMEN' SPEAKER SERIES, a weekly showcase of game changing women in fashion, entertainment and beyond. Smith's hour-long performance included songs, personal stories and readings from her newest book, Devotion – the national bestseller, exploring the nature of creative invention.

Warehouse Theatre will present The Sam Shepard Festival, a theatre repertory series honoring the American playwright Sam Shepard. The Festival will include fully staged productions of the Pulitzer Prize winning play Buried Child, the Tony Award winning play True West, and the semi-autobiographical play Cowboy Mouth, as well as readings on Curse of the Starving Class, Heartless, and Fool for Love.

The acoustic version of Jade Bird's latest single “Uh Huh” is debuting today. The song is receiving early critical praise—Rolling Stone hails, “Bird hearkens back to golden age alt-rock heroes like Alanis and Courtney Love. Mondo.NYC, a global music and tech business summit and live showcase festival, has announced the addition of hip hop legend Darryl 'DMC' McDaniels as a panel speaker and award-winning Canadian rockers Our Lady Peace as a showcase performer.

Today, singer-songwriter JP Saxe is pleased to share the new video for his recent collaboration with rising pop star Charlotte Lawrence called 'The Few Things.' The track was called “intensely vulnerable and sweetly intimate” by Milk, and has been streamed over 1M times on Spotify alone landing itself in the Viral 50 Chart in the US, Denmark, Norway, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia.

For the opening of her third season as Artistic Director at Minneapolis' spunky Jungle Theater, Sarah Rasmussen and her team commissioned a new adaptation of LITTLE WOMEN from Kate Hamill in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the novel's publication. Kate Hamill is an actor who has, of late, gained notice for her skillful adaptations of classic novels for the stage (several Austen works, Vanity Fair, etc.), to the point that she was one of the 10 most frequently produced playwrights in the US last season.

Cowboy Mouth is a rarely produced, semi-autobiographical play, written with Patti Smith over the course of several sleepless days and nights, tells the story of Slim and Cavale, two rock n' rollers holed up in a disheveled apartment await a special delivery in the form of their iconic, visionary savior 'the Lobster Man'.
