Final casting has been confirmed for The Acting Company's benefit reading of British drama The Chalk Garden by Enid Bagnold, starring Angela Lansbury. The one-night-only event will take place on Monday, June 19 at 7 PM, at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College, 68th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues, presented by The Acting Company in association with Andrew Bryan and Opus Blue Productions.

Alan Pally, an authority on Tony and Academy Award-winning British playwright Peter Shaffer ("Amadeus," "Equus"), will be guest speaker at the Playhouse's Sunday Symposium following the Sunday, June 4, 3 p.m. matinee performance of Shaffer's comedy "Lettice and Lovage." 

The Tony Award-nominated comedy, "Lettice and Lovage," will open Westport Country Playhouse's 87th Season, written by Peter Shaffer, author of "Amadeus," and directed by Mark Lamos, Playhouse artistic director.  The play runs from May 30 through June 17. 

The Front Page has entered its final week of performances on Broadway, but stars John Slattery and John Goodman will now be around for the ages. The duo just traveled across the street to Sardi's to unveil their new portraits. Check out photos from the festivities below!

Producer Scott Rudin announced today that The Front Page recouped its entire $4.875 million capitalization during the week ending Sunday, January 1, making official the show's much discussed smash-hit status.

The Acting Company honored legendary theatrical director Mark Lamos and distinguished patron of the arts J. Barclay Collins at its annual gala Monday, October 17, at New York's Metropolitan Club, One East 60th St. The event featured cocktails, silent auction, dinner, entertainment and award ceremony. The New Group has announced additional casting for Sweet Charity, the production launching the company's 2016-2017 Season.  Choreographed by Joshua Bergasse and directed by Leigh Silverman, this production features Yesenia Ayala, Darius Barnes, James Brown III, Asmeret Ghebremichael, Shuler Hensley, Sasha Hutchings, Donald Jones, Jr., Nikka Graff Lanzarone, Emily Padgett and Joel Perez, and as previously announced, two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster as Charity Hope Valentine.  A limited Off-Broadway engagement plays November 2 - December 11 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre, 480 West 42nd Street), with Official Opening Night set for Sunday, November 20.

As BroadwayWorld sadly reported yesterday, award-winning Broadway actor John McMartin has passed away at the age of 86. McMartin most recently appeared on Broadway in 2014's ALL THE WAY and the 2011 revival of ANYTHING GOES.

Off-Broadway's The New Group will honor Ed Harris & Amy Madigan and Ellen Roth at the company's Annual Gala on Monday, March 7 at Tribeca Rooftop (2 Desbrosses Street between Hudson & Greenwich). Hosted by Mario Cantone, the event will feature performances by Jerry Dixon and Nat and Alex Wolff, and an appearance by playwright Beth Henley, author of Crimes of the Heart and The Jacksonian. Music Director is Sinai Tabak. The evening, 6:00-10:00pm, includes cocktails, dinner, and silent and live auctions.

The New Group presents the world premiere of STEVE, a new play by Mark Gerrard. Directed by Cynthia Nixon, this production features Ashlie Atkinson and Francisco Pryor Garat, and as announced, Mario Cantone, Jerry Dixon,Malcolm Gets and Matt McGrath.
