Steep Theatre's 11th season continues on April 12th with the Midwest Premiere of The Receptionist, by Obie Award-winning playwright Adam Bock. Director and Steep Artistic Associate Joanie Schultz returns home to Steep to direct the production. Schultz's past collaborations with the company have earned numerous Jeff awards and nominations, including Steep Ensemble Member Caroline Neff's 2011 Jeff Award for Best Actress for A Brief History of Helen of Troy. Neff and Schultz are back at it again with The Receptionist.

A Red Orchid Theatre presents the world premiere of The Butcher of Baraboo, written by Marisa Wegrzyn and directed by Artistic Associate Shade Murray. The production will run April 5 - May 20, 2012 at A Red Orchid Theatre, 1531 N. Wells. Press Opening is Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 7:00PM.

THE PROFIT OF CREATION, a new musical with book and lyrics by Charlie Sohne and music by Tim Rosser, will be presented to an industry audience on March 13 at 3 p.m. in the North Studio at Playwrights Horizons. The cast of the reading includes Lindsay Mendez (Godspell), Hunter Ryan Herdlicka (A Little Night Music), Colin Hanlon (Rent), Sean Dugan (Next Fall), Sally Wilfert (Make Me A Song) and Michael Winther (33 Variations). The reading will be directed by Obie Award-winning director Evan Yionoulis, music directed by Paul Staroba (Lucky Guy) and stage managed by Donald Butchko.

The Colorado String Quartet will play an all-Beethoven program Thursday, March 8, at 7:30 p.m., at Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts on the UConn campus in Storrs.

Producer John Johnson announced today the complete cast for the New York premiere of 35mm A Musical Exhibition, written by Ryan Scott Oliver based on the photography of Matthew Murphy.

Strawdog Theatre announces "Play Rites!," a free series of interactive conversations, visual displays and events designed around the award-winning theatre company's productions. The first in this season's "Play Rites" is Monday, March 5 at 6 p.m. in Hugen Hall at Strawdog Theatre, 3829 North Broadway Street featuring Bill Savage.

Raven Theatre will present Arthur Miller's drama, The Price, directed by Michael Menedian. Opening is Sunday, March 4 at 7:00 p.m. at Raven Theatre, 6157 N. Clark, with a reception following in Raven's lobby.

Quintessence Theatre Group continues its second season with Jean Anouilh's 1943 adaptation of Sophocles' ANTIGONE, in a translation by Jeremy Sams, directed by Alexander Burns.

In honor of Tony Award-winning playwright Athol Fugard's visit to UNC, StreetSigns presents ACTS OF WITNESS, two theatrical events in rotating rep, featuring Athol Fugard's BLOOD KNOT directed by Joseph Megel and POETIC PORTRAITS OF A REVOLUTION created by Kane Smego, Will McInerney, Mohammad Moussa and Sameer Abdel-khalek.

Steppenwolf for Young Adults is pleased to announce a special post-show discussion with Bill and Dan Savage about homophobia and anti-gay bullying-topics raised by Sarah Gubbins' fml: how Carson McCullers saved my life (February 28 - March 18, 2012). Dan Savage is author of the highly-acclaimed, nationally syndicated sex column Savage Love, and co-creator of the 'It Gets Better Project,' a campaign to bring hope to gay teens struggling with bullying due to their sexuality.Bill Savage, Dan's brother, is a Senior Lecturer in English at Northwestern University. This special discussion is open to all audience members with tickets to the March 9 performance.

For one night only, Pouring Tea 'recounts the hardships, happiness, and humor of being black and queer in the US South. E. Patrick Johnson performs these oral histories live on stage, and covers such issues as transgenderism, coming out, life in the South, religion, love, and more. All the men embodied in this performance were born, reared, and continue to live in the US South, and range in age from 19 to 93.'

War and violence meet a trio of clowns when Guerra: A Clown Play comes to the Jay Pritzker Pavilion March 22-24, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. Presented by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, in partnership with the Chicago Office of Tourism and Culture, Guerra: A Clown Play is a collaboration among Chicago artists Seth Bockley andDevon de Mayo, and Mexico City-based Artús Chávez.
