MCC's MISCAST Honors Tomei, Schreiber, Busch et al. 3/14; Bravo's Andy Cohen Hosts

MCC Theater (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, Artistic Directors; William Cantler, Associate Artistic Director; Blake West, Executive Director) will celebrate the company's 25th anniversary by honoring a host of MCC artists past and present at Miscast 2011. This highly anticipated annual gala will take place on Monday, March 14, 2011 at The Hammerstein Ballroom (311 West 34th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues). Andy Cohen (Host of Bravo TV's 'Watch What Happens Live') will host the evening. David Duchovny (star of the recent MCC Theater hit, The Break of Noon), Téa Leoni, Hugh Dancy (star of yet another recent MCC hit, The Pride) and Claire Danes are this year's honorary chairs. Funds raised from Miscast help MCC Theater produce some of the most talked-about new work Off Broadway and support their Youth Company and in-school partnerships that serve New York City public high school students, as well as their literary development work with emerging playwrights.

Today, in honor of this week's InDepth InterView with Kathy Griffin celebrating her Broadway debut in KATHY GRIFFIN WANTS A TONY - which opens tonight - we are taking a look at the impressive list of comedic talents who will be virtually taking over the Great White Way this Spring. In addition to Griffin, two of the biggest comedians in the country, Dane Cook and Chris Rock, will also be settling in to a Broadway run in Neil LaBute's FAT PIG and Stephen Adly Guirgis's THE MOTHERF*CKER WITH THE HAT, respectively; and two of the biggest actor/comedians on the planet, Ben Stiller and Robin Williams, will be appearing in dramatic roles in the revival of John Guare's THE HOUSE OF BLUE LEAVES and the new play THE BENGAL TIGER AT THE BAGHDAD ZOO, respectively. reasons to be pretty begins with what is probably the most intense, expletive-driven, flesh-searing argument in the fiery LaBute canon, delivered by a very, very angry young woman to her soon-to-be ex-boyfriend. But after this first burst of shouting, Mr. LaBute lowers the volume and asks us to listen carefully to the way people speak in the early 21st century and to acknowledge the reflexive,culturally conditioned cruelty in much of what we say.
