Drama Desk nominees received their official nomination certificates at a cocktail reception on May 1st at IL Bastardo Restaurant and BroadwayWorld.com was there! The 54th Annual Drama Desk Awards will be held Sunday, May 17, 2009 in the LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center.

The Barrow Group Theatre Company is honoring Nathan Lane, Judith Ivey and Jeff Dine with its 'The Barrow Group Award' at its 15th Annual Celebrity Doodles Auction & Gala. The event honors the recipients' service and commitment to the arts, and celebrates celebrity by auctioning personal artwork - doodles - of some of today's most beloved entertainers.

Nominations for the 54th Annual Drama Desk Awards were announced this morning at the New York Friars Club by Faith Prince and Jim Dale, multi-award winning stage stars. They were joined for the announcement by William Wolf, Drama Desk President, Barbara Siegel, Chairperson of the Drama Desk Nominating Committee, Robert R. Blume, Executive Producer of the Drama Desk Awards ceremony, and Randie Levine-Miller, Director of Special Events for the Drama Desk.

Based on a recommendation by the OCC Executive Committee, Special Achievement Awards will be given to David Alvarez, Trent Kowalik, and Kiril Kulish for their performances in 'Billy Elliot the Musical' and an Outstanding Ensemble Performance Award will be bestowed to the full cast of 'The Norman Conquests' (Amelia Bullmore, Jessica Hynes, Stephen Mangan, Ben Miles, Paul Ritter and Amanda Root).

Ira Glass and 'This American Life' will be filming Mike Birbligia at 'Sleepwalk With Me' this Saturday, April 4th at both the 4pm and 8pm shows for the Showtime television series. Mike will be filmed on stage telling a bonus story that isn't usually in 'Sleepwalk With Me' so this will be an added bonus for audiences.

Sleepwalk With Me is an off Broadway show by standup comedian Mike Birbiglia which deals with his bouts of Sleepwalking and his search for love and happiness in the city. Nathan Lane produces the New York engagement.

'Awkward 10 Minutes With Mike' continues into April once a week after a select evening's performance of Sleepwalk With Me starring Mike Birbiglia at The Bleecker Street Theater.

Celebrity Autobiography: In Their Own Words continues its sit-down, open-ended run at the Triad Theater, 158 West 72 Street, Monday, March 23, at 7:30pm, with a cast that includes Scott Adsit, Craig Bierko, Mike Birbiglia, Rachel Dratch, Susie Essman, Kristen Johnston, Eugene Pack, Dayle Reyfel, Sherri Shepherd, Michael Urie, and Alan Zweibel.

The new comedy Sleepwalk With Me by Mike Birbiglia has announced that is extending through March 22nd, 2009 at The Bleecker Street Theatre (45 Bleecker Street just East of Lafayette). In addition, there will now be a Saturday matinee at 4pm, which replaces the 10pm performance.
