Playwright Gore Vidal was well placed to have in depth knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes in US politics. After all, his mother was the daughter of a Democratic senator and his father worked for Franklin Roosevelt. His interest and involvement in politics led to The Best Man, which made its Broadway debut in 1960 and received six Tony Award nominations. Set in a Philadelphia hotel during the 1960 presidential nominating convention, there is no doubt that the workings of American politics have changed somewhat since that time. To appreciate the jeopardy and drama within the play, it is worth understanding that back then, there were often many more deadlocks and last minute dramas to these conventions than now, when the presidential nominees are chosen much earlier.

AMC announced today new additions to the cast of its hit martial arts drama INTO THE BADLANDS, which returns for season three next year.

Bellevue Little Theatre, 203 W. Mission Ave. in Olde Towne Bellevue,  will open the 49th season with the musical "Little Shop of Horrors", on Friday Sept 15, closing on Sunday, Oct. 1.

AMC's martial arts drama INTO THE BADLANDS closed its second season as a top-ten scripted series on ad-supported cable.

Celebration Theatre presents as part of its New Works Reading Series, HUSBAND MATERIAL by Steven Lee, directed by David Tran and performing one night only on Tuesday, March 16 at 7:30pm at the West Hollywood City Chambers, 625 N. San Vicente in West Hollywood.

Theatre Corner is a San Diego-based video interview series promoting more diverse interest and involvement in the theatrical arts. Founded by Michael Taylor, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps Infantry and the only Black man serving on the Board of Directors at the Old Globe. Theatre Corner originated as an effort to engage potential theatergoers in San Diego's underrepresented Black community by spotlighting Black celebrities performing in the local theater scene.

Amphibian Stage Productions announces the cast and creative team for its second main stage play of the 2017 season, The Trap by Kieran Lynn. Starring Justin Lemieux (Tom) and Sarah Rutan (Clem), the play runs Friday, April 28 through Sunday, May 21 at the Berlene T. and Jarrell R. Milburn Theatre at Amphibian Stage Productions. Supporting cast includes Bob Hess (Alan) and Cara Serber (Meryl). 

Bellevue Little Theatre will present 'Clue: The Musical' based on the classic board game of the same name, the week-ends of March, 24, 31, and April 7 at the theatre, 203 W. Mission Ave., in Bellevue.  Show times are 7:30 PM Friday and Saturday evenings and 2 PM on Sundays.  

The Old Globe's Annual Meeting was held on Monday, February 13, on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.
