Hartford Stage Artistic Director Darko Tresnjakand Managing Director Michael Stotts today announced the cast and creative team for Make Believe, written by Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle award-winning playwright Bess Wohl. The world premiere play will perform Thursday, September 6, through Sunday, September 30, to open the Tony Award-winning regional theatre's 55th season. Jackson Gay will direct.

Mary Beth Peil will play her final performance as the "Dowager Empress" in the hit Broadway musical ANASTASIA on September 23, 2018. Peil is an original member of the Broadway company and was nominated for the 2017 Tony and Drama Desk Awards for her performance. She is a celebrated singer and stage and screen veteran, well known for her work in The King and I (Tony nomination), "Dawson's Creek" and "The Good Wife". Next, she can be seen starring in the acclaimed film "The Song of Sway Lake" opening in cinemas September 21, 2018.

Take the journey! Casting has been announced for the North American tour of the critically-acclaimed Broadway production of ANASTASIA. This production features a book by celebrated playwright Terrence McNally, a lush, new score by Stephen Flaherty (music) and Lynn Ahrens (lyrics) and direction by Tony Award-winning director Darko Tresnjak. The tour will launch at Proctors in Schenectady, NY on October 9, 2018 and will go on to play 30 cities in its first season.

Original director Sean Foley will return to stage the show in Hartford.

Hartford Stage will embark upon the final phase of a $14 million, multi-year plan to transform the 50 Church Street theatre's functionality, comfort and accessibility. Darko Tresnjak will step down as Hartford Stage's Artistic Director at the conclusion of the 2018-19 season. Tresnjak has served as the Tony Award-winning theatre's artistic leader since 2011. A national search will be conducted to find his replacement.
