Every year, the Globe hosts productions by writers other than Shakespeare - this year it sees the inclusion of Kneehigh Theatre's version of Michael Morpurgo's 946: The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips. Adapted for the stage by Morpurgo and Emma Rice, it sits neatly in the middle of the Wonder Season, prior to embarking on a UK and US tour. On the face of it 946 is a family show, however there really is something for everyone. (more...)

Full casting is announced today for Regent's Park Open Air Theatre's acclaimed production of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice which, after sell-out performances in 2013, returns this year to conclude the 2016 Summer Season ahead of a major UK Tour in September. Opening at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley, the tour will then visit Norwich, Cambridge, Salford, Leicester, Woking, Truro, Birmingham and Richmond, with further dates in 2017. There will be a press night at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley on Thursday 22 September at 7.30pm. (more...)

Shakespeare's Globe is delighted to announce casting for 946: THE AMAZING STORY OF ADOLPHUS TIPS, co-adapted by Michael Morpurgo and Globe Artistic Director Emma Rice. After a critically acclaimed 2015 run at Kneehigh's Asylum, Emma Rice's family show will be brought to London for the first time, before embarking on a major international tour of the UK and US. It tells the story of the rehearsed D-Day landings in Devon's Slapton Sands, and stars Katy Owen as the heroine Lily, Mike Shepherd as her grandfather, Adam Sopp as the evacuee Barry, and Nandi Bhebhe and Ncuti Gatwa as American soldiers Harry and Adi. St. Ann's Warehouse, having just concluded an immensely successful inaugural season in its "stunning" (New York Magazine), "gorgeous" (The New Yorker) new theater on the Brooklyn Bridge Park waterfront, kicks off its 2016-17 season with a highly anticipated event five years in the making: the World Premiere of Taylor Mac's A 24-Decade History of Popular Music. The "staggering magnum opus" (The New York Times) performance art concert is Mac's subjective history of the United States, told through songs that were popular throughout the country, and in its disparate communities, from 1776 to the present day. From September 15 through October 8, Mac, a 24-piece orchestra and a vast group of special guests will perform this massive spectacle in two ways: as a series of concerts covering three decades each, and in a one-time-only, non-stop, 24-hour marathon performance. Entitled ENCAMPMENT, the project will unite artists from the UK, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Cameroon and Guinea.
