Yesterday (Sunday 19 October 2014), best-selling author Michael Morpurgo was joined by Joey, the life-size horse puppet and star of the National Theatre's production of War Horse visiting the poppies installation at the Tower of London. Joey walked amongst the poppies and Michael Morpurgo planted a poppy and then returned to read the Roll of Honour. The puppeteers were Sam Clark (Joey Head), Robin Guiver (Joey Heart) and Derek Arnold (Joey Hind). Scroll down for photos! (more...)

The NYT REP theatre was launched in 2012 as an affordable response to the rise in tuition fees. It offers 15 of Britain's most talented young actors eight months of free training and mentoring, culminating in a 10 week residency at the Ambassadors Theatre. Joey, the equine Star of the National Theatre's Production of War Horse, based on Michael Morpurgo's book, was one of the main attractions at Hyde Park at Saturday's BBC's Proms in the Park, hosted by Sir Terry Wogan. He made several appearances in the crowd during the evening, amongst the 40,000 strong crowd and on stage during the finale which included rousing choruses of 'Jerusalem' and the National Anthem.
