Best-selling author Michael Morpurgo, made a special visit to Ypres yesterday, Monday 22 December, 2014, accompanied by Joey, the life-size puppet horse and central character of the National Theatre's production of War Horse. Adapted for the stage from his novel in 2007, War Horse is now in its sixth year in London, on tour in Holland and will make its Belgian premiere in Antwerp in 2015. (more...)

The National Youth Theatre has announced that they will present one-off, free productions of You Can and If Chloe Can for school groups. The productions will be performed on 10 November and 17 November respectively at the Ambassadors Theatre, where the West End REP season is currently showing. The production marks another strand of the National Youth Theatre's work to improve education and opportunity in the arts and their commitment to nurturing young and diverse talent. To further enrich the educational experience for schools attending the REP season the NYT have also released curriculum-linked education resource packs for teachers to accompany the shows. (more...)

Yesterday (Sunday 19 October 2014), best-selling author Michael Morpurgo was joined by Joey, the life-size horse puppet and star of the National Theatre's production of War Horse visiting the poppies installation at the Tower of London. Joey walked amongst the poppies and Michael Morpurgo planted a poppy and then returned to read the Roll of Honour. Joey, the equine Star of the National Theatre's Production of War Horse, based on Michael Morpurgo's book, was one of the main attractions at Hyde Park at Saturday's BBC's Proms in the Park, hosted by Sir Terry Wogan. He made several appearances in the crowd during the evening, amongst the 40,000 strong crowd and on stage during the finale which included rousing choruses of 'Jerusalem' and the National Anthem.
