Elton John AIDS Foundation Fall Gala to Honor Patricia Hearst, Gayle King will Host and Sheryl Crow will Perform

On Monday, November 5, 2018, the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) will host its annual New York Fall Gala at Cipriani 42ndStreet in New York City.  At this year's gala, EJAF Founder Sir Elton John and Chairman David Furnish will honor Ford Foundation President Darren Walker, philanthropist Patricia Hearst, and long-time advocate Joe McMillan, CEO and Chairman of DDG, with EJAF's Enduring Vision Award.  Nine-time Grammy Award Winning Singer, Songwriter Sheryl Crow will be the special musical guest, and Bryan Stevenson, Founder and Executive Director of the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) and the new National Memorial for Peace and Justice in Montgomery, Alabama, will be the featured speaker. CBS This Morning co-anchor and journalist Gayle King will host the event.

IFC announced today that it has picked up the upcoming fourth season of the all-female sketch series Baroness von Sketch Show which will air on the network in 2019. The series is performed and written by Carolyn Taylor, Meredith MacNeill, Aurora Browne and Jennifer Whalen. Whalen also serves as the season's showrunner.

The event benefits Bay Street's educational and theatrical programs. The evening includes special performances as well as a silent auction, cocktail party, live auction with celebrity auctioneer Richard Kind, dinner and dancing. Due to future restoration of the Long Wharf, this will be the final gala to be held there.

The show opened on Saturday, June 2 and was met with rave reviews and a positive audience response. FELLOW TRAVELERS, open now through June 17, 2018, is the first show in Bay Street Theater's 2018 Mainstage Season. On Monday, May 7th The League of Professional Theatre Women (Kelli Lynn Harrison & Lisa Rothe, Co-Presidents), an organization which has been leading the gender parity conversation and championing women in the professional theatre for over 35 years, presented the final Oral History event of their 2017-18 season with two-time Tony Award winner Chita Rivera in the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts (111 Amsterdam Avenue at 65th Street). Ms. Rivera talked about her life and illustrious career with Broadway World's lead correspondent, Richard Ridge, host of Backstage with Richard Ridge.
