Sternin and Fraser Go UNDER MY SKIN at Pasadena Playhouse
by Don Grigware - Sep 25, 2012

Prolific TV writers Robert Sternin and Prudence Fraser turn their talents to the stage with Under My Skin, an amusing fantasy with sexual role reversal. The male spirit gets trapped in a female body and the female in a male's, creating laughs aplenty, quirky romance and even manages to take a stand on a very important topical issue. The issues never reach the level of full dramatic conflict, though, as a sitcom-like comedy style takes control, and it's utter bliss for all concerned, now at the Pasadena Playhouse through October 7.

Review - Gob Squad's Kitchen (You've Never Had It So Good)
by Ben Peltz - Jan 24, 2012

Is it possible to recreate someone else's authenticity seven times a week doing the same Off-Broadway show?  If last Saturday night's performance of Gob Squad's Kitchen (You've Never Had It So Good) is any indication, the answer is a resounding... I'm not sure.  But in any case, the lighthearted madness inhabiting The Public Theater's Newman space, devised by the German/British theatrical squad named in the title, makes for a rollicking good time.

With an intoxicating script by Marc Camoletti, Boeing-Boeing tells the tale of Bernard, an American playboy in swinging '60s Paris who juggles three flight-attendant fiancées-one American, one German, and one Italian. With the help of airline timetables and a phenomenally efficient housekeeper, he convinces each that she is his only love. But then a fast new Boeing jet puts the flight attendants on a collision course, hurtles Bernard's cunning deception towards disaster, and provides lift-off for laugh after laugh.
