Geva Theatre Center's 40th Anniversary Season continues with The Whipping Man by Matthew Lopez, directed by Tim Ocel. This new Civil War drama begins performances on April 2 and runs in the Elaine P. Wilson Mainstage through April 28.

Called 'an intimate portrait of passion, betrayal and international espionage,' The English Bride, by New Jersey playwright Lucile Lichtblau, will make its World Premiere* at the professional Centenary Stage Company April 5-21 in the Lackland Center in Hackettstown.

Luna Stage is set to present a special stand-up comedy night in celebration of Women's History Month, featuring The Pink Collar Comedy Tour tonight, March 14 at 8 p.m.

Luna Stage will celebrate 20 years of producing provocative and challenging works for the stage by honoring founder and artistic director Jane Mandel with a celebration on Thursday, June 6th, 2013 at the Club at Orange Lawn in South Orange.

In commemoration of Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, Luna Stage will present Etty, writer and performer Susan Stein's critically-acclaimed one woman show adapted from the diaries and letters of Etty Hillesum. Etty is directed by theater veteran Austin Pendleton. Etty will be presented for two performances only, on Sunday April 7th, at 3pm and 7pm. Luna Stage will present its next Music in the Moonlight Jazz Concert, featuring Diane Moser Trio in a Tribute to Jaki Byard with Andy Eulau bass & Scott Neumann drums tonight, March 10 at 7pm.

Marin Theatre Company, in a co-production with Virginia Stage Company, will stage the regional premiere of Matthew Lopez's Civil War drama The Whipping Man in Mill Valley from March 28 to April 21, 2013. MTC's artistic director Jasson Minadakis directs the production. Featuring popular Bay Area actors L. Peter Callender, Nicholas Pelczar and Tobie Windham, as well as the design team from MTC's 2011 San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award nominated production of Tennessee Williams's The Glass Menagerie, this co-production will rehearse and run at VSC in Norfolk, Virginia, from February 26 to March 17, 2013, before moving to MTC. Opening night at MTC is on Tuesday, April 2.

The Last Celebrity is an innovative way to celebrate Black History Month and help remind our youth of the importance of documenting their stories. Luna Stage continues the second season of its jazz series, "Music In The Moonlight" with pianist and composer Diane Moser in a tribute to Jaki Byard on Sunday, March 10 @ 7pm. The Linden, NJ-based pianist, vocalist, composer and arranger will be joined at Luna Stage by tenor saxophonist Joel Frahm, bassist Steve La Spina and drummer George Schuller to present 'Jazz and the American Songbook: The Music of Johnny Burke and Jimmy Van Heusen.'

The play was developed in part through Luna Stage's New Moon Play Reading Series. Luna Stage Associate Artistic Director/Director of Play Development, Cheryl Katz, will direct. Previews for Carnaval begin tonight, January 31st, 2013. The production runs Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 3pm through March 3rd, 2013, with the official press opening on Friday, February 8th. Anton Floyd, Jaime Lincoln Smith and Terrell Wheeler will star in Luna Stage's world premiere of Carnaval, Obie-Award winning playwright Nikkole Salter's provocative new play about the demand side of sexual tourism. Floyd, Smith and Wheeler, three young African-American actors, were attracted to the contemporary nature of the play upon first read, and impressed with Salter's ability to write from a male perspective.
