Dr. Barbara Ann Teers's National Black Theatre (NBT) will open its 45th Season with the New York Premiere of The Last Saint On Sugar Hill, written by Keith Josef Adkins and directed by Seret Scottannounced NBT's Director of Theatre Arts Program, Jonathan McCrory. Preview performances begin tonight, October 29th at NBT, 2031 Fifth Avenue starting at 7:30pm. The opening night is set for Friday, November 1st at 7pm. The production will run through Sunday, November 24th.

59E59 Theaters (Elysabeth Kleinhans, Artistic Director; Peter Tear, Executive Producer) welcomes Centenary Stage Company with the NYC premiere of THE ENGLISH BRIDE, written by Lucile Lichtblau and directed by Carl Wallnau. Alzheimer's casts its long shadow over an already broken family in Joe Beck's poignant drama A Homecoming. Edited by Tom Philbin, directed by Troy Miller and presented by Adam Weinstock and Creative Concept Productions as part of the 17th Annual New York International Fringe Festival (Fringe NYC), A Homecoming will be performed at the Players Theater, located at 115 MacDougal Street (between W 3rd St. & BleeckerSt. (Fringe Venue #17). The production will run Saturday, August 10 at 4:45pm; Friday, August 16 at 2pm; Tuesday, August 20 at 9pm; Thursday, August 22 at 1pm; and Friday, August 23 at 7pm.

McCarter Theatre Center has announced the appointment of Adam Immerwahr as Associate Artistic Director. Immerwahr, a longtime McCarter staff member with a thriving directorial career, will support McCarter's Artistic Director, Emily Mann, in the planning and execution of the theater's artistic programming. His duties will also include directing for McCarter Theater's main stage, cultivating new works and identifying emerging artists, having primary responsibility for the day-to-day artistic oversight of McCarter's dramatic productions, and coordinating the selection and hiring of freelance artistic personnel.

TAR BEACH was read in the 2012-2013 New Moon Reading Series. The playwright, Tammy Ryan, will be in residence at Luna Stage this week working on the play. The workshop will culminate in a reading of the revised play tonight, August 1 at 7:30 p.m.

Now that the world premier of 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow' has opened and is enjoying ever-growing and receptive audiences of all ages, the adaptor of this famous Washington Irving tale, James Rana, sat down with Gayle Stahlhuth, artistic director of the Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company, to talk. Like last year's 'The Poe Mysteries,' Stahlhuth is also the director.

The 2013 New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) AND Forte Musical Theatre Guild present Crossing Swords a world premiere musical comedy by Joe Slabe, nominated for five Betty Mitchell Awards and three Calgary Critics' Awards. NYMF veteran Igor Goldin directs a cast of five including Linda Balgord (Bway: The Pirate Queen, CATS, La Cage, Gypsy standby for Patti Lupone; Nat. Tour: Sunset Boulevard), Ali Gordon (Regional: Fiddler on the Roof, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown), Steven Hauck (Bway: Irena's Vow), Lyle Colby Mackston (Papermill: 25th Annual...Spelling Bee), and Marrick Smith(New York: Love's Labour's Lost). Crossing Swords is being staged at The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center, 480 West 42nd Street (bet. 9th & 10th Avenues) in NYC for five performances from Monday, July 22 through Sunday, July 28, 2013.

Luna Stage's 20th Anniversary Celebration was a living history of the company's work featuring performances by Tony-Award winner Priscilla Lopez, star of television, film and stage Frankie Faison, and many others who have graced the stages of Luna during the company's 20-year history. All paid humorous and heartfelt tribute to founder Jane Mandel, who is stepping down as Artistic Director after this season.
