Magic Theatre (Sean San José, Artistic Director and Kevin Nelson, Managing Director) announced today that the company will be inaugurating the New Performances Program with the live event BLACK FIRE: A LIVE RECORDING EVENT with San Francisco Poet Laureate, Tongo Eisen-Martin. This will be the first in-person event at Magic Theatre since March of 2020.
Soho Rep. Announces 2021-22 Season

Soho Rep. today announced a robust 2021-22 season with which it will reopen its home at 46 Walker Street. The company welcomes full-capacity in-person audiences back for the first time since late 2019 with the presentation of works-in-progress from the Writer/Director Lab, a signature program of the theater for over two decades.

For his opening salvo as Magic Theatre’s newly appointed Artistic Director, Sean San José has decided to throw a party. On Thursday, August 5th, Magic will present its 2021 gala 'The New Age of Magic' outdoors at Fort Mason. San José strongly believes theater should be for everyone, not just people of means, so Magic is hosting a more egalitarian event with ticket prices starting at a very reasonable $25. Mainly, though, the goal is to bring people together to kick back and have some fun.

Michael Ritchie Announces Retirement From Center Theatre Group

Michael Ritchie announced that he will retire as Artistic Director of Center Theatre Group on December 31, 2021. Having taken over the position from Founding Artistic Director Gordon Davidson in January, 2005, for more than 16 years, Ritchie has led one of the country’s largest nonprofit regional theatres, producing and presenting 266 productions.

Latino Theater Company Announces 'Circle Of Imaginistas' Playwriting Commission

The Latino Theater Company has been awarded a WarnerMedia Arts and Culture grant funded by the AT&T Foundation to support the first year of Circle of Imaginistas, a new playwright commissioning initiative that pairs established Latinx playwrights with early/mid-career Latinx playwrights to create a 30-play canon of new work over the course of five years.
