Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers and commentators for media covering New York theatre announced today its award winners for the 2013-14 season in 24 categories.

FORBIDDEN BROADWAY: ALIVE AND KICKING to Play Limited Engagement at Feinstein's at the Nikko, 7/10-27

Get ready to take a bite of the Big Apple, San Francisco! Feinstein's at the Nikko is thrilled to present Forbidden Broadway: Alive and Kicking!, the wickedly funny parody of Broadway's biggest shows and brightest stars, for a limited three-week engagement. Written and created by Gerald Alessandrini, Forbidden Broadway: Alive and Kicking! is filled with satirical vignettes of recent Broadway hits, including The Book of Mormon, Once, Newsies, and LES MISERABLES to name a few, as well as send-ups of Catherine Zeta Jones, Matthew Broderick, Patti LuPone, and Mandy Patinkin, among others. Forbidden Broadway: Alive and Kicking! will perform at Feinstein's at the Nikko July 10 - 27, 2014. The 2014 Lucille Lortel Award winning smash hit comedy Buyer & Cellar, about a (fictional) Los Angeles actor who takes a job working in the (very real) basement shopping arcade of Barbra Streisand's Malibu estate, officially opens at Chicago's Broadway Playhouse (175 East Chestnut Street) on Saturday, May 10 for a strictly limited engagement through Sunday, June 14. Buyer & Cellar is produced by Darren Bagert, Dan Shaheen, Ted Snowdon and Daryl Roth.

WHITE PEOPLE by J.T. Rogers will be presented by Pegasus Theatre as a Churchmouse production at the Bath House Cultural Center today, May 8 - May 25, 2014. WHITE PEOPLE will be directed by Chad Cline and the cast includes Jack O'Donnell as Martin, Charissa Lee as Mara Lynn, and Jason Folks as Alan. Churchmouse Productions is the non-black and white arm of Pegasus Theatre. The plays selected for Churchmouse are generally riskier, edgier, contemporary fare and WHITE PEOPLE certainly meets those objectives.

Confirmed: HERE LIES LOVE to Play National's Dorfman Theatre

Director Alex Timbers has confirmed that Here Lies Love, the musical based on David Byrne and Fatboy Slim's 2010 concept album, will be opening in London at the National's Dorfman Theatre in October. The show tells the story of Filipina First Lady Imelda Marcos' rise to power and subsequent descent into infamy and disgrace at the end of the People Power Revolution. It originally opened in April 2013 at the Public Theatre in New York City, and was extended by popular demand on four occasions.

The Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Keen Company presents Keen Teens, the educational theatre partnership between Off-Broadway's Keen Company and the theatrical publishing company Samuel French. The writers for the program's eighth season are Kristoffer Diaz, Halley Feiffer, and Kenny Finkle, who have been commissioned to write thirty-minute, large cast plays, which will be produced with student actors Off-Broadway.

Working Artists Theatre Project, in collaboration with the David Lynch Foundation, presents a staged play reading benefit of James McLure's companion comedies Lone Star and Laundry and Bourbon under the title 1959 Pink Thunderbird, featuring a cast of Broadway talent. David Van Asselt's A FABLE Begins Performances Tonight at Cherry Lane Theatre

piece by piece productions and Rising Phoenix Repertory in association with Rattlestick Playwrights Theater have announced that performances of the world premiere of A Fable, written by David Van Asselt and directed by Daniel Talbott, begin tonight at 7pm at the Cherry Lane Theatre, 38 Commerce Street. The opening night is set for Thursday, May 22 at 7pm. A Fable is scheduled to run through Saturday, June 28.

Des McAnuff & Michael David to be Honored at NYTW's 2014 Spring Gala, 5/12

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) has announced that its 2014 Spring Gala will honor Tony Award-winning director Des McAnuff and President of The Dodgers Michael David. Both are founding partners of Dodger Properties, which is responsible for over 150 productions of some of the most successful theatre on Broadway (56 Tony Awards), Off-Broadway and internationally. The gala will take place on Monday, May 12 at The Grand Ballroom of The Plaza Hotel, beginning at 6:30pm.

Oscar-winning FROZEN songwriting team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez are reportedly in development on their next project -- a musical titled UP THERE. Deadline writes that Alex Timbers, who is currently helming ROCKY on Broadway, will direct the show, which is scheduled to run at La Jolla Playhouse in California next year.
