Ardea Arts Receives $14,000 NEA Grant

National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Jane Chu has approved more than $82 million to fund local arts projects and partnerships in the NEA's second major funding announcement for fiscal year 2016. Included in this announcement is an Art Works award of $14,000 to Ardea Arts for the creation ofBOUNCE The Basketball Opera. The Art Works category supports the creation of work and presentation of both new and existing work, lifelong learning in the arts, and public engagement with the arts through 13 arts disciplines or fields.
Lincoln Center Announces Out of Doors 2016 Lineup

Lincoln Center Out of Doors, one of the country's longest-running free outdoor summer festivals, opens this year on July 20 and runs through August 7, with a post-festival special event on August 13. In Lincoln Center's continuing commitment to making the arts available to all, the 46th edition of the popular festival will fill the plazas with a diverse range of music, dance, spoken word, and family events, featuring dozens of U.S., international, and local artists.

Lincoln Center announces Lang Lang's 'New York Rhapsody,' a special one-night only live concert featuring the internationally acclaimed pianist Lang Lang. This exclusive multi-genre concert event-Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 8:00 pm, in the Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center-pairs one of the world's greatest virtuosos with a star-studded list of guest artists. The 'Lang Lang's New York Rhapsody' event, which benefits Lincoln Center's community engagement initiatives, is produced by Live From Lincoln Center and will be filmed for a national television broadcast on PBS later this year.

To top off the Inaugural Season in its new Brooklyn waterfront home, St. Ann's Warehouse has invited NoFit State Circus, the UK's leading large-scale contemporary circus, to construct its 42'-high, 10,000 square-foot big top under the Brooklyn Bridge. Inside, the Wales-based international company will immerse audiences of all ages in Bianco,a gorgeous spectacle directed by Firenza Guidi. As a live rock band plays and audiences are shepherded through the space, promenade-style, the company of 35 performers and technicians creates awe-inspiring images of prowess and daring. 'This is circus as an event, aiming for grand physical/visual poetry, while at the same time exuding a huge, restless party vibe,' wrote London's The Times in a review of Bianco at the Edinburgh Festival. Continuing its commitment to introducing New York to great international artists, St. Ann's presents the work's American premiere-NoFit State Circus's North American debut-May 3-29.

The program includes Robert Schumann's Frauenliebe und -leben, Op. 42, Debussy's Ariettes oubliees, and a selection of songs by Rachmaninoff. Ms. Fleming and Ms. Kern close their program with five songs by jazz musician and composer Patricia Barber.

Today, Bryan Ferry announced additional live dates for 2016 including a performance at the Fox Theatre on Thursday, August 4 7:30 p.m. The show will feature a fantastic set list that combines both Roxy Music and solo hits and will include songs from Ferry's recent critically acclaimed release Avonmore, described as 'his best album in 30 years'.
