On last night's Jonah Hill-hosted SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, Oscar nominee Kristen Wiig performed an impersionation of a 1982 version of the legendary Liza Minnelli in a sketch entitled 'Liza Minnelli Tries to Turn Off a Lamp.'

The Persian Room at the Plaza Hotel itself featured headliners including Liza Minnelli, Dolores Hope, Eartha Kit, Carol Channing, Diahann Carroll, Andy Williams, Lainie Kazan, Patti Page, and the Chairman of the Board/Ole Blue Eyes - Frank Sinatra, not to mention literary icons such as Eloise (courtesy of Hilary Knight). This week, representatives of Persian Room's history from the 1940's to the 1970's gathered to remember, admire and respect its legacy including Marge Champion, Tommy Tune, Barbara Van Orden, Carol Lawrence, Leslie Uggams, Eve Plumb and more to celebrate the launch of Patty Farmer's new book, 'The Persian Room Presents,' released by Vantage Press. Tony Award winner Liza Minnelli will perform at The Stamford Center for the Arts and Palace Theatre's 3rd Annual Palace Gala on Friday, March 30 at 8pm. She will also be honored with the Arts Legacy Award. In addition, Widland and Moira K. Lyons will be presented with the Arts Ovation Award.

The Las Vegas Hotel and Casino has announced its exciting Spring Season, ranging from Liza Minnelli and Chicago to Sandy Hackett's Rat Pack Show and 'The King' starring Trent Carlini. Billed as 'The last remaining great showroom in Las Vegas', the 1,700-seat LVH theater will be home to headline entertainers and Broadway shows, while the smaller Shimmer Cabaret will feature more intimate theatrical events and musicals.

Masterworks Broadway will release Liza Minnelli - Live At The Wintergarden on April 23, online, and on May 8 in retail stores. This is the first time this highly acclaimed album has been recorded on CD. The CD features music from her 1974 concerts and includes three 'live' bonus tracks.

Eddie Edwards has been mimicking and impersonating celebrity actors with uncanny precision ever since the 1970s. His skill as a vocalist and makeup artist eventually landed him a spot in La Cage aux Folles, where he performed and sang for many years as Ms Midler, Barbra Streisand, and Cher. For Legendary Divas, Edwards brings five members of the cast of La Cage to Stoneham, along with six Las Vegas dancers. The show runs from Thursday, March 22 through Sunday, March 25.

The singer, actress and comedienne Kaye Ballard, the Grammy and Tony Award-winning singer/songwriter and actress Dee Dee Bridgewater, and the jazz trumpeter and cornetist Warren Vaché will be the special honorees of the 2012 Bistro Awards on Monday, April 23 at 6:30pm. Taking place at Gotham Comedy Club, 208 West 23rd Street (between 7th & 8th avenues), the 27th Annual Bistro Awards gala, which celebrates outstanding achievement in New York cabaret and jazz, will also recognize 22 other artists and shows.

When the sad news came out this morning that famed Disney songwriter Robert B. Sherman died yesterday, March 5, in London, some of our first thoughts here at BroadwayWorld went out to Tony-winner Marc Shaiman. Shaiman had been a huge proponent of the incredible 'THE BOYS - The Sherman Brothers' Story' documentary and it was his enthusiasm that sent us off to see the fantastic film, and our lives were better off for it. There will be two programs presented by the company as well as a Family matinee show on Saturday-March 17 at 2:00pm. New works by Lar Lubovitch and Yvonne Rainer premiere on March 13 and 15 respectively. Both programs will open with an abstract film montage which overlays excerpts of Graham dancing her psychological works with moments from psychological films of the same era. With honors ranging from the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame to the Tony Awards, Broadway's best performers gathered last night, February 27, to raise awareness of the rare disease, pulmonary fibrosis, and honor the memory of Associated Press theater critic, Michael Kuchwara (today would have been Kuchwara's 65th Birthday). Hosted by award-winning actress and devoted Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (PFF) advocate Julie Halston, Broadway Belts for PFF! returned to Birdland in New York City for a second successful year. The event raised almost $50,000 to benefit the Foundation.
