BroadwayWorld has learned that writer and director Randy Johnson (A Night With Janis Joplin -- Broadway and currently at Pasadena Playhouse) has obtained the stage rights to Gayle Wald's biography SHOUT, SISTER, SHOUT!: THE UNTOLD STORY OF ROCK-AND-ROLL TRAILBLAZER ROSETTA THARPE (Beacon Press, 2007). Johnson is currently in discussion with producers and regional theatres to present and produce SHOUT, SISTER, SHOUT! for the 2016/17 season.

Next spring, Audra McDonald, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Billy Porter, Brandon Victor Dixon, and Joshua Henry will star in SHUFFLE ALONG Or The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed, a striking new production that presents both the 1921 musical itself, and additionally details the events that catalyzed the songwriting team of Noble Sissle and Eubie Blake, and librettists F.E. The 2015 'MetroStar Talent Challenge' is extending its deadline for applications to July 4 and adding new mentoring to help competitors up their games during the 7-week contest. The eighth annual edition of the summer tradition runs for seven consecutive Mondays, from July 6 through August 17.  All contestants must certify that they will be available to compete throughout the jury-and audience-voted, elimination-round competition.
