THE TALE OF THE ALLERGIST'S WIFE is the latest production at Bucks County Playhouse. The play tells the story of Marjorie Taub who lives on the upper west side of New York with her husband, Ira. Marjorie spends her time pursuing culture at lectures, museums and theatres. She is facing an epic mid-life crisis when a friend from her past visits her. Charles Busch wrote this play and it is directed by Boyd Gaines. THE TALE OF THE ALLERGIST'S WIFE stars Marsha Mason, David Garrison, Marilu Henner, Ryan Shams and Emily Jon Mitchell.

Roundabout Theatre Company presents the world premiere of The Unavoidable Disappearance of Tom Durnin by Steven Levenson, directed by Scott Ellis. The cast will include Christopher Denham as 'James Durnin,' Lisa Emery as 'Karen Brown-Canedy',Sarah Goldberg as 'Katie Nicholson,' David Morse as 'Tom Durnin,' and Rich Sommer as 'Chris Wyatt'.
Performances began on May 31, 2013, and opening was last night June 27, 2013 at the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre (111 West 46th Street). Happy Birthday, Charles Strouse! Strouse's first Broadway musical was the 1960 hit Bye Bye Birdie, with lyrics by Lee Adams, who would become his long time collaborator. Following this was Golden Boy (1964, also with Adams), starring Sammy Davis, Jr. and It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman (1966, based on the popular comic strip) which introduced the song 'You've Got Possibilities' sung by Linda Lavin. In 1970, Applause (starring Lauren Bacall, with book by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, and lyrics by Adams) won Strouse his second Tony Award. In 1977, Strouse adapted another comic strip for the stage, creating the hit Annie, which garnered him his third Tony Award and two Grammy Awards. Other Strouse musicals include Charlie and Algernon (1979), Dance a Little Closer (1983, with lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner), Rags (1986), Nick & Nora (1993), and An American Tragedy (1995, with lyrics by David Shaber).

New York Stage and Film (Johanna Pfaelzer, Artistic Director; Thomas Pearson, Executive Director; Mark Linn-Baker, Max Mayer, Leslie Urdang, Producing Directors) and Vassar College (Ed Cheetham, Producing Director) recently announced the line-up of their 2013 Powerhouse Theater Season, which runs fromJune 21st - July 28th at Vassar College (Poughkeepsie, New York). The 2013 season will include fully staged productions of new plays by Seth Zvi Rosenfeld andMozhan Marno, as well as two exciting musical workshops: the Steve Martin & Edie Brickell collaboration Bright Star (featuring music from their newly released recording "Love Has Come For You"), directed by Tony Award-winner Walter Bobbie (Chicago); and A new musical inspired by The Brooklyn Hero Supply Company, music and lyrics by Peter Lerman, book by Simon Rich, based on characters created by Pulitzer Prize winning novelist Michael Chabon and Ayelet Waldman, directed by Tony Award-winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening).
