From March 12 - 22, 2015 Houston Ballet offers up Modern Masters, a spring mixed repertory program showcasing works by three of the twentieth century's greatest choreographers.

Miss Hill: Making Dance Matter tells the inspiring and largely unknown story of Martha Hill, a visionary whose life was defined by her love for dance, and who successfully fought against great odds to establish modern dance as a legitimate art form in America.

The School of American Ballet (SAB) announces the 2015 Winter Ball at Lincoln Center's David H. Koch Theater on Monday, March 9, 2015, sponsored by legendary French jeweler, Van Cleef & Arpels for the eighth consecutive year.

New York City Ballet will open its 2015 Winter season on Tuesday, January 20, with a week of ballets by the Company's co-founding choreographers George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins, and current Ballet Master in Chief Peter Martins. Included are two all-Balanchine programs -- one consisting of Serenade, Agon, and Symphony in C; and one consisting of Donizetti Variations, La Valse, and Chaconne. A third program of all-Russian music will include Symphonic Dances by Martins, The Cage and Andantino by Robbins, and Cortege-Hongrois by Balanchine.

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College continues its 60th Anniversary Season with The Beauty of Ballet, a free lecture demonstration presented by the School of American Ballet (SAB), on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 2pm. This event is free, with no tickets or reservations required.

From September 4-14, 2014, Houston Ballet launches its 45th season with the company premiere of John Neumeier's three-act ballet A Midsummer Night's Dream. The ballet is based on Shakespeare's lighthearted play of the same name and follows the hijinks and hilarity that ensues when a well-intentioned plan with a love potion goes awry. Created in 1977, A Midsummer Night's Dream has served as Mr. Neumeier's calling card, being seen as one of his most joyous and popular creations. Houston Ballet is the first American ballet company to perform the famous work and it is the first piece by Mr. Neumeier to enter the Houston Ballet repertoire.

Daniel Ulbricht/BALLET 2014 offers an exclusive opportunity for audiences to experience some of today's most remarkable ballet dancers in the intimate Ted Shawn Theatre at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, July 16-20. New York City Ballet Principal Dancer Daniel Ulbricht directs and performs with a select ensemble of top stars including Tyler Angle, Craig Hall, Robert Fairchild, Russell Janzen, Emily Kikta, Rebecca Krohn, Tiler Peck, Georgina Pazcoguin, and Teresa Reichlen. The program is equally impressive, including Christopher Wheeldon's Liturgy, danced to Arvo Pärt's ”Fratres;” Two Hearts, a collaboration between Benjamin Millepied and composer Nico Muhly; Furiant, created by NYCB Soloist Justin Peck; Sunshine, a solo for Ulbricht by Larry Keigwin; the world premiere of Opus 19. Andante, a duet by critically acclaimed young choreographer Emery LeCrone; and the classic Fancy Free, the first ballet created by Jerome Robbins and Leonard Bernstein in 1944, which subsequently inspired the full-length musical On the Town. Anna Zorina Gallery will present Bernard Perlin: Painter of Life and Light, a retrospective of the recently deceased Bernard Perlin (1918 - 2014). Perlin was the last living member of a great New York artistic gay 'cabal' of the 1940s and '50s that included George Platt Lynes, Glenway Wescott, Monroe Wheeler, Pavel Tchelitchew, Lincoln Kirstein, and Paul Cadmus.

The School of American Ballet's Workshop Performance Benefit 2014 on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 celebrated 50 years of these annual performances and raised nearly $860,000 for scholarships and school programs. The evening began with cocktails at 5:30pm in Juilliard's Morse Hall, followed by the presentation of the Mae L. Wien Award for Outstanding Service to Dena Abergel, SAB faculty member and NYCB Children's Ballet Master, and Wien Awards for Outstanding Promise to Lyrica Blankfein, Christopher Grant, Baily Jones, and Addie Tapp. Scroll down for photos from the event!

On June 3rd 2014, The School of American Ballet's 50th annual Workshop Performance at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater at Lincoln Center once again proved that Balanchine was right when he famously said "But first a school". That remark was Mr. B's response after Lincoln Kirstein invited him to come to the United States to co-found a ballet company in 1933. Eight decades later, as evidenced by the overall high level of talent and artistry on stage, SAB continues to deserve its reputation as this country's foremost pre-professional training ground for ballet dancers versed in the Balanchine style.
