Dayton's premier professional regional theatre continues its legacy of developing new works and its long-standing relationship with New York writer Michael Slade as it prepares for the first ever production of Slade's latest play, Family Shots, at downtown's The Loft Theatre. Charming family patriarch Sam Baker lies in a hospital bed, recovering from an apparent heart attack, but his wife, Marsha, won't stop making the crisis all about her -- much to the dismay of their son, Aaron. The young photographer wonders why his parents even stay together while he and his husband, Malcolm, deal with their own issues as newlyweds. Intimate, yet universal, Family Shots is a wildly funny and touching comedy about marriage -- its joys, challenges and responsibilities -- and what's worth fighting for. The production runs tonight, January 22 - February 8, 2015.

This action-packed musical depicts the rivalry between to teen street gangs, The Jets and the Sharks of two different ethnic backgrounds. Emily Trainor, a high school senior at Providence High School and student of the School of Theatre portrays the role of Anita, the sexy, sassy sister of Bernardo, the leader of the Sharks. The young protagonist, Tony, a member of The Jets, falls in love with Maria, the sister of the leader of the Sharks (Bernardo). Anita and Maria are friends that work at a bridal shop together. The conflict and prejudices that arise as a result of this "forbidden" love affair is explosive, entertaining, and captivating.

PITTSBURGH — Passion, fascination, intrigue and romance await you at Heinz Hall during BNY Mellon Grand Classics: A Night in Russia on January 30 through February 1. Guest conductor Krzysztof Urba?ski, music director of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, makes his debut with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra during this subscription weekend. He leads a program that includes the Pittsburgh premiere of Prokofiev's Russian Overture, a solo by Concertmaster Noah Bendix-Balgley in a concerto by Khachaturian, and Ravel's orchestration of Mussorgsky's “Pictures at an Exhibition,” a piece originally written for solo piano that is now one of the great orchestral works.
