NYHRC to Offer ON THE TOWN Dance Class with Alicia Harris This Weekend

New York Health and Racquet Club (NYHRC) teams up with Broadway's On the Town, to offer an exclusive new dance class, Dancin' on the Town. Broadway's revival of this classic New York show is what The New York Times called "The Best Musical of the Year." This class will include music from the show and a 1940's-inspired routine as led by former Broadway dancer and NYHRC instructor, Alicia Harris. With this offering, NYHRC moves into its second year of collaboration with Broadway for in 2014 the club ran a popular boxing class, Rocky Ringside, which was inspired by ROCKY.

Pacific Symphony Music Director Carl St.Clair has spent 25 years championing music in the community, and it shows in Pacific Symphony's commitment to access, willingness to experiment and openness to sharing the stage. The Symphony celebrates Maestro St.Clair's 25th anniversary at the helm by sending its musicians out into the community to perform chamber and full-orchestra concerts throughout Orange County, with the majority of events taking place between February and June. These free or low-cost concerts are collectively called, “Freshly Squeezed Music: Pacific Symphony in Your Orange County Neighborhood.” Concerts highlight Pacific Symphony's extensive and varied reach into the community, and include new partnerships with local community-based arts organizations, as well as highlight artists and students currently involved in Pacific Symphony's education and community engagement programs.

Cultural partners Jacob's Pillow Dance and MASS MoCA present KEIGWIN + COMPANY, April 11 at 8pm and April 12 at 3pm at the Hunter Center. A favorite among dance audiences and critics, KEIGWIN + COMPANY will bring a mixed program of high art and pure entertainment, featuring a variety of diverse contemporary works that embody the company's signature wit, broad musicality, and profound emotional capacity. The Muny announced today its 2015 production of Oklahoma! will feature the Laurence Olivier Award-winning and Tony Award® nominated choreography of Susan Stroman. The Muny is honored to be the first theater in the world to recreate this extraordinary choreography, last seen in 2004. The Muny production will be directed by Rob Ruggiero, with music direction by Kevin Stites. Ms. Stroman's work will be recreated by Ginger 'Rodgers & Hammerstein's score is everything you dream a musical should be,' said Susan Stroman.
American Composers Forum Announces Champion of New Music Award Winners

The American Composers Forum (ACF) Board of Directors has voted to present its 2015 “Champion of New Music” award to three outstanding recipients: the American Composers Orchestra, flutist and Director of the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) Claire Chase, and conductor Michael Morgan, at public ceremonies this year in Oakland, Brooklyn, and New York City.

Lyric Unlimited presents the world premiere of The Property, a klezmer opera by composer Wlad Marhulets and librettist Stephanie Fleischmann. It opens Wednesday, February 25, with five performances through Thursday, March 5. World premiere presentations of The Property are presented in partnership with the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood Feb. 25, 26, 27, with additional performances at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in suburban Skokie Mar. 4-5.
