And after last night's two Golden Globe award wins (one for ‘Best TV Comedy' the other for series creator/writer/director Lena Dunham), the show's buzz from season one led to immense acclaim.

TVGuide.com reports that 'Book of Mormon' star Andrew Rannells will be giving up his role on the HBO comedy series GIRLS midway through the current season. In an interview with The Huffington Post, the 'Next to Normal' star revealed that taking on two series at once proved too much for him.

HBO Orders Comedy Pilot from GIRLS Writer

HBO has officially picked up a comedy pilot from GIRLS scribe Bruce Eric Kaplan, the network announced today. The pilot, PEOPLE IN NEW JERSEY, follows two siblings living just south of New York, who desperately attempt to get through life on a day-by-day basis. SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE's Lorne Michaels will produce alongside acclaimed director Jason Reitman and Kaplan.

HBO received 17 Golden Globe nominations, the most of any television network this year, for the upcoming 70th annual Golden Globe Awards, which were announced today in Los Angeles. 'Game Change' led all TV programming with 5 nominations. The Golden Globe Awards will be presented Jan. 13 in Los Angeles.
