GIRLS Season Premiere Slightly Down from Last Year

By:

HBO's season two premiere of Girls debuted to 866,000 viewers last night - while its creator, Lena Dunham, was busy winning a Golden Globe for 'Best TV Comedy Actress.'

Though the initial premiere is down from last April's season one debut, over the course of three broadcasts last night, the show drew in over 1.6 million viewers. That's a 42 percent difference from last season's premiere night.

Girls was also named 'Best TV Comedy' at the Golden Globes.

Created by and starring Lena Dunham ("Tiny Furniture"), the Emmy(R)-winning HBO series Girls takes a comic look at the assorted humiliations and rare triumphs of a group of women in their early 20s. Dunham, Judd Apatow, Jenni Konner, Ilene S. Landress and Bruce Eric Kaplan executive produce the show, which kicks off its ten-episode second season SUNDAY, JAN. 13 (9:00-9:30 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO, followed by the season premiere of the Golden Globe-winning comedy series "Enlightened."
