An all-new THEATER TALK presents the compelling backstory of a dramatic new Broadway musical - one that seemingly defies musical treatment. Talking about the show ALLEGIANCE - the story of a Japanese-American family's internment by the U.S. government during World War II, as well as the show's six-and-a-half-year journey to the Longacre Theatre, are its stars George Takei, Lea Salonga and Telly Leung and director Stafford Arima.

The play about Britain's future king, King Charles III, which began previews October 10, 2015, officially opened last night, November 1, at the Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street, NYC). Theatre composer Scott Alan, who has spent many years working with some of the brightest talents Broadway and the West End, has just announced on his Tumblr that he is taking a leave from songwriting to focus on his personal life. He writes:

Performances of the new American musical Allegiance began at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street) on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 with an official Opening Night set for Sunday, November 8, 2015. Allegiance stars Tony and Olivier Award winner Lea Salonga (Miss Saigon, Les Miserables) in her long-awaited return to Broadway joined by 'Star Trek' icon George Takei in his Broadway debut at age 78, and Broadway and 'Glee' starTelly Leung. Allegiance is the vibrant and unforgettable story of one family's resilience in the face of seemingly-insurmountable odds, inspired by Takei's real-life experience as a Japanese American during World War II.

After a sold-out, two week residency at The Hippodrome, Scott Alan will play a one-night only farewell concert tonight, October 26th at 8pm at Pizza Express Jazz Club at Kettner's. The concert will feature special guests that will not be announced prior to the concert.

A veteran of four previous Broadway musicals, this is his first time originating a role on Broadway.
