Presenters and musical performances have been announced for the 59th Annual Drama Desk Awards, taking place Sunday, June 1st at The Town Hall. Presenters and performers for this year's Drama Desk Awards include: Christian Borle, Michael C. For people, like me, who sit in front of a computer for a living, or have long commutes each day, podcasts are an entertaining and educational way to pass the time. Last month I introduced you to the 20 Top Podcasts for theatre fans, and chief among them was the Theater People Podcast, hosted by Patrick Hinds. Recently, I spoke to Patrick about the his incredible Broadway friends, his research process, and why Laura Osnes made him sick to his stomach.

Just last night, 'Submissions Only' co-creators Kate Wetherhead and Andrew Keenan-Bolger celebrated the songs of their hit web series at 54 Below. Under the music direction of Michael Croiter, the Submissions Only House Band, along with a number of exciting guest stars, performed a selection of music from all three seasons of the show, including original songs like 'Two Cents,' 'Wrong Spot' and 'Nobody Does Mean Like Me.'

Just last night, May 19, Broadway stars turned out for a special performance of Terrence McNally's Tony-nominated new play Mothers and Sons, benefitting the Actors Fund. Theatre luminaries and current Broadway stars including Brian Dennehy, Sebastian Arcelus, Adriane Lenox, Tonya Pinkins, Orfeh & Andy Karl, Jessie Mueller, Laura Osnes, and more, helped cheer on Mothers and Sons stars Tyne Daly, Frederick Weller, Bobby Steggert, and Grayson Taylor as they supported the Actors Fund. Now in its second year on Broadway, CINDERELLA continues to play to large and enthusiastic audiences at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway). The show currently stars Grammy-nominated recording artist Carly Rae Jepsen as Cinderella, Joe Carroll as Prince Topher, Fran Drescher as Madame, Victoria Clark as the Fairy Godmother, Ann Harada as Charlotte, Stephanie Gibson as stepsister Gabrielle, Peter Barlet as Sebastian, Todd Buonopane as the rebel Jean-Michel and Phumzile Sojola as Lord Pinkleton. Sardi's just hosted the caricature unveiling for Jason Robert Brown, who was just nominated for two Tony Awards for The Bridges of Madison County. Brown was joined by family, friends, colleagues and the company of The Bridges of Madison County for the special event. Music Conservatory of Westchester, a not-for-profit music school in White Plains, NY, will honor Tony winner Barbara Cook and conductor John Mauceri on Monday, June 23 with lifetime achievement awards and a cavalcade of Broadway talent who will pay tribute to the honorees and the Broadway stage. Tony Award winners Cady Huffman and Alice Ripley, Tony nominee Laura Osnes, and Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera star Craig Schulman will perform while John Treacy Egan, a Broadway veteran who resides in Westchester, will emcee the event held at the Whippoorwill Club in Armonk.
