A quickly-rising star who is already one of the opera world's most sought-after vocalists, soprano Susanna Phillips has filled the upcoming season with an exciting schedule of engagements. Phillips returns to New York's Metropolitan Opera for her fifth consecutive season, makes her Carnegie Hall solo recital debut, and taps into her Southern heritage as Stella in Andre Previn's A Streetcar Named Desire with Renee Fleming in performances at Carnegie Hall and Lyric Opera of Chicago.

The Old Globe today announced its 2013 Summer Season. Adrian Noble will return for his fourth season as the Artistic Director of the Globe's Shakespeare Festival and direct Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice starring Festival veteran Miles Anderson. Noble will also direct Tom Stoppard's classic farce, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. Presented in repertory in the outdoor Lowell Davies Festival Theatre, the Festival will also include the perennial favorite A Midsummer Night's Dream. The Summer Season will also feature N. Richard Nash's romantic comedy The Rainmaker and the San Diego Premiere of Double Indemnity, based on the classic novel by James M. Cain and adapted for the stage by David Pichette and R. Hamilton Wright. The Rainmaker will run on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre and Double Indemnity in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, both part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Tickets to the Globe's 2013 Summer Season are currently available by subscription only, and prices range from $66 to $422. SAG-AFTRA today received a new, national charter from the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations. SAG-AFTRA joins 55 other unions, comprising more than 12 million working men and women, under the AFL-CIO banner.

SAG-AFTRA mourns the passing of actor Ernest Borgnine, who died yesterday at the age of 95. Borgnine was honored with the 47th Annual Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award® in 2010 for career achievement and humanitarian accomplishment. Borgnine served on the Screen Actors Guild Board of Directors from April to November 1962 and again from November 1974 to November 1977.

The National Board of Directors of the newly formed SAG-AFTRA met for the first time over May 19 and 20, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
