For those who didn't have the opportunity to meet the cast and crew of East Lynne Theater Company's 'Rodgers' Romance' at the after-show party at The Washington Inn on June 15, another chance is to be had on Friday, June 24 at an after-show Q&A. The Colony Hotel - which The Palm Beach Post has hailed as "probably the best place for cabaret on the planet" - is doing something completely different this year. For the first time in the 15-year history of the Royal Room, the world famous cabaret will not close at the end of "season" but will continue offering extraordinary entertainers straight-through the summer months with dinner shows every Friday and Saturday night.

 Irvington Town Hall Theater in association with NiCori Studios and Productions announces the finale Cabaret on the Hudson for the 2015/2016 season on Sunday, April 10 at 3pm. Cabaret on the Hudson is a series that features outstanding cabaret performers, each bringing a 25 minute sampling of their New York City cabaret shows to Westchester, NY. Many of the performers are Broadway veterans and have performed in New York City venues such as 54 BELOW, the Oak Room at the Algonquin, Birdland, Feinstein's at Loews Regency, Iridium, the Metropolitan Room and Jazz at Lincoln Center to name a few. Cabaret on the Hudson will be hosted by multi-nominated Cabaret singer and host of the Music at the Mansion series, Corinna Sowers Adler and will feature James Horan on piano.  

The art of cabaret lost its Queen almost a year ago when the Julie Wilson died on April 5 at age 90. There will likely be a number of tributes to Ms. Wilson throughout this year and a big one is happening on March 17 at 7 pm at the Metropolitan Room, where Joseph Macchia's Cabaret Cares/Help Is On the Way charity will pay tribute to the cabaret legend with a star-studded variety show that will also raise money for the organization that supports children living with HIV/AIDS. 

A two-time MAC Award winner, Tony nominee, and recipient of a Drama Desk Lifetime Achievement Award, Charles Busch just visited the exquisite Appel Room for an intimate evening of song and stories. The actor, playwright (Vampire Lesbians of Sodom, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife), novelist, screenwriter, director, and drag legend has happily added 'vaudevillian' to the list over the past years.

Returning for its 17th season, Lincoln Center's acclaimed series American Songbook continues to broaden its scope in celebrating the best in American singing and songwriting as interpreted by top performers and rising stars, with events at three Lincoln Center venues. The Appel Room series continues with gender illusionist Charles Busch tonight, February 26, 2016.

The brainchild of Metropolitan Room managing partner Bernie Furshpan, his General Manager Joseph Macchia, and Cabaret Scenes Magazine Publisher Peter Leavy, New York's first International Cabaret Festival (February 17-21) debuted Wednesday night at the Met Room with performances and inductions into the newly established Cabaret Hall of Fame (an actual location for Hall and its memorabilia to be determined at a later date). Clubs hosting this year's festival include The Metropolitan Room, Don't Tell Mama, The Duplex, Feinstein's/54 Below, Iridium, Joe's Pub, and Stage 72 (formerly The Triad).

NiCori Studios and Productions in association with the Oakeside Bloomfield Cultural Center announces a new installment of the monthly concert series, Music at the Mansion, on Sunday, February 28, at 3pm. Performers include 4th Wall Theatre, Ami Brabson, Peggy Eason and Michael Colby.

Following a short winter hiatus, Catskill's Bridge Street Theatre is now ready to spring back into action. With a new marquee providing greater visibility to travelers along the West Bridge Street corridor and continuing improvements to its interior spaces, 2016 promises to be even more seriously entertaining at what one reviewer has called "the ballsiest theater in the region."

On Saturday night, before the Stage Q production of 'Psycho Beach Party', I got the opportunity to chat with 'Psycho Beach Party' playwright Charles Busch and his cabaret partner/pianist Tom Judson about their Sunday evening show in downtown Madison as well as Charles' history as a playwright and performer.

Cabaret on the Hudson Music Series Comes to the Irvington Town Hall Theater in February

Still Game favourite Jane McCarry will star in the brand new production of Mum's The Word 2. The comedy actress will join an all-star cast including Libby McArthur (River City), Suzie McGuire (former Radio Clyde presenter), Lorraine McIntosh (Deacon Blue) and Julie Wilson Nimmo (Balamory). The Scottish tour commences at the King's Theatre Glasgow from Tuesday 26 until Saturday 30 January.

Lynn University and Producer Jan McArt, producer and director of theatre arts program development, are launching the popular Mabel Mercer Foundation's Cabaret at Lincoln Center comes to Live at Lynn Series early next year. From January through May five of Manhattan's leading cabaret headliners will appear in concert in Lynn's Amarnick-Goldstein Concert Hall.
