Orson Welles and Cole Porter's AROUND THE WORLD to Play London, Now thru Nov 10

London director, Ian Marshall Fisher has rediscovered the long lost play written by the unique collaboration of Orson Welles and Cole Porter, AROUND THE WORLD. This historical Welles and Porter partnership (Citizen Kane & Touch Of Evil meets Kiss Me, Kate & Anything Goes) is based on their take on Jules Verne's Around The World in 80 Days. AROUND THE WORLD will play a series of 'Benefit/Fundraising' performances in London's Lilian Baylis Theatre, Sadler's Wells, and will be unveiled to Americans for the first time in over seventy years at New York's Mint Theatre.

Sudden Industries today announced the release of Zane and the Steampunk Riders: Perfume Bandits, its first title in a series of western steampunk stories targeting hard to reach reluctant boy readers. The eBook, set in a Jules Verne-esque Wild West landscape, follows a band of heroic young steampunks in a fun, fast-paced and gadget-filled adventure story. Sudden Industries developed the series with writers Rick Siggelkow, co-creator of Shining Times Station and Laura MacDonald (Curse of the Narrows) after determining that the parents of young boys were having a hard time finding books that engaged their sons.

Producer Cedric Yau has announced that James Seol will step into the 17 roles originated by Jimmy Ray Bennett in Around the World in 80 Days, beginning Tuesday, September 17th. Bennett's last performance will be Sunday, September 15th­ at 7pm. Guy LeMonnier heads the cast as the phlegmatic Phileas Fogg, with Shirine Babb, Matt Lutz, and Gary Littman rounding out the ensemble cast. Rachel Klein directs.

Producer Cedric Yau has announced that Gary Littman & Matt Lutz will step into the roles of Passepartout & Detective Fix (respectively) in Around the World in 80 Days, beginning today, September 3rd. They will replace John Gregorio & Stephen Guarino, whose last performance was Sunday, September 1st. Guy Lemonnier heads the cast as the phlegmatic Phileas Fogg, with Shirine Babb & Jimmy Ray Bennett rounding out the ensemble cast. Rachel Klein directs.

Producer Cedric Yau has announced that Guy LeMonnier will step into the role of Phileas Fogg in Around the World in 80 Days, beginning Saturday, August 17, 2013. He will replace Josh Segarra. LeMonnier will head the cast as the phlegmatic Phileas Fogg, the quintessential Brit who takes a bet to travel the globe in 80 days. Shirine Babb, Jimmy Ray Bennett, John Gregorio & Stephen Guarino round out this ensemble cast.

George J. Rios Draws Inspiration from Verne in 'Masters of the Sea'

In his 2010 novel 'Masters of the Sea: The Adventures of Jules Verne's Mathias Sandorf' (published by iUniverse), which is getting a renewed marketing effort, author George J. Rios draws inspiration from Jules Verne's self-proclaimed greatest of 65 novels, his 1885 'Mathias Sandorf' and updates the tale for the 21st century.

Gigantic Floating Art Installation 'in orbit' by Tomás Saraceno Presents Special Experience in Düsseldorf

An installation of steel wire and transparent orbits transforms the wide open space under the dome-shaped glass ceiling of Düsseldorf's K21 museum into a surreal landscape reminiscent of a sea of clouds. The installation called 'in orbit' by artist Tomás Saraceno creates three different levels. Brave visitors are invited to access the installation and move across the nets and in and out of spheres. Their movements cause vibrations - like in a spider web - which, combined with the lofty heights, create a fascinating spatial experience. The installation is now open and currently planned to remain on display until Fall 2014.

Pianist Martin Berkofsky Performs at the Custom House Maritime Museum Tonight

New London Maritime Society is pleased to present virtuoso pianist Martin Berkofsky in concert at the Custom House Maritime Museum at 7 PM tonight, July 6, 2013. In a concert entitled Lighthouses as Beacons of Light & Hope, Mr. Berkofsky will perform two sonatas by Ludwig Von Beethoven and and a number of short works by Franz Liszt. The concert is a benefit; Mr Bekofsky is donating all monies from the performance to both the New London Maritime Society Lighthouse Fund and Amistad America, Inc. TheAmistad ship will be docked in New London that weekend as a part of the Society'sSentinels on the Sound - Lighthouse Todays, 10 Todays of waterfront activities in New London across the summer from July 6 through September 7, 2013. The concert will take place at the Custom House Maritime Museum, 150 Bank Street, New London, Connecticut. Seating is limited to 45. Tickets are $35, $25 for NLMS members.
