On Monday, August 4th the Theater People Podcast welcomes Tony-winner Karen Olivo. Olivo made headlines in 2013 when she announced on her blog that she would be taking a step back from acting and leaving New York City in order to move to Madison, Wisconsin to pursue other interests and passions.

54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents 'Something New' LIVE! on Monday, August 25th. 'Something New', the theatre podcast that dissects what it means to be a working, multifaceted artist in America, comes to 54 Below to wrap up its second season with a special live concert. Award-winning songwriter and host Joel B. New has invited some of his favorite guests to join him to swap stories, take a quiz or two (with audience prizes), and bring his songs to life onstage.

First workshopped as a reading through Boomerang Theatre and then at an award winning staged reading at 2013's Planet Connections Festivity, BOHEMIAN VALENTINE makes its World Premiere fully staged premiere at the 2014 New York Fringe Festival. It will be performed at "Teatro LATEA at the Clemente (107 Suffolk Street)." Performance dates are SATURDAY AUGUST 9th - 1pm, TUESDAY AUGUST 12th - 2pm, MONDAY AUGUST 18th - 8:45pm, WEDNESDAY AUGUST 20th - 8:45pm, and THURSDAY AUGUST 21st - 4:45pm. Running time is approximately 90 minutes with no intermission.

GABRIELLE STRAVELLI, the celebrated pop/jazz vocalist, has extended her exclusive engagement at The Metropolitan Room through August. After sold out shows and amazing reviews - including a rave in The New York Times - a special encore performance has been added on Wednesday, August 13, in addition to remaining shows on Tuesday, July 29 and Thursday, July 31 at 7:00 PM. Stravelli, called an 'outstanding singer' by The Wall Street Journal, is known from her tours with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, appearances at the 92nd Street Y and her long-running Soho jazz brunch. Her new show, directed by nightlife legend Marilyn Maye, includes selections from her debut CD Waiting in Vain previews tracks for her upcoming sophomore release. The evening features classic standards like 'While We're Young' and 'Goody Goody,' pop hits such as 'Young Folks' (Peter, Bjorn and John) and 'Have You Ever Seen the Rain' (John Fogerty), in addition to distinctive original compositions. She is joined by Joshua Richman on piano, Pat O'Leary on bass and Eric Halvorson on drums.

The Tony Award-winning actress Karen Olivo is coming to Minnetonka Theatre to teach a Master Class for high school students. This exciting two-day event is open to all Minnetonka High School theatre students interested in improving their audition techniques, and will include workshops, mock auditions, and even private coaching for the cast of Minnetonka's student summer stock production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (August 8-16).

On Monday, July 28 at 8PM Musical Theatre Factory (MTF) will present an acoustic concert of songs from Peter Lerman's new musical play, THE SACRED HARP, about the nephew of a preacher who tries to break free from his Appalachian confines by building an enchanted guitar. The concert, directed by Austin Regan features Van Hughes (American Idiot, 9 to 5, Hairspray) and Christy Altomare (Mamma Mia!, Carrie: the Musical), as well as a full chorus performing traditional Sacred Harp hymns.

Samuel French has announced a talented roster of judges for the Samuel French Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival (OOB Festival), the nation's premiere short play competition, running from August 5th-10th at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre.
