Boston nonprofit Revolutionary Spaces announces the debut of Phillis in Boston, an original new play dramatizing a key moment in the life of both the nation and the celebrated poet Phillis Wheatley, enslaved author of the first known book of poetry in English by an African American woman, “Reflections on Various Subjects, Religious and Moral.”

What did our critic think of WALKING TO BUCHENWALD at Convergence-continuum? At the start of the opening night of BUCKENWALD, it appeared that no matter the quality of the script the audience was in for a rough night.  Lighting guffaws, a confusing scene with actors speaking directly to the audience, but talking to other actors seemingly miles apart, with no visual means of the messages being conveyed.  Not a healthy beginning.

The Rhode Island Teaching Artists Center (RITAC) invites teaching artists, medical professionals, administrators, educators and the general public to attend 'Artists Working in Healthcare' today, May 31 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The half-day event, which is free to RITAC members and just $10 for non-members will explore the history, practices and benefits of integrating the arts and healthcare. The event will take place at RITAC, which is housed at The Gamm Theatre, 172 Exchange St., Pawtucket, RI.
