Sony Classical is pleased to announce the release of the recording of one of the world's most famous classical music events: the 2016 New Year's Concert with the Vienna Philharmonic under the direction of Latvian conductor Mariss Jansons. The live recording is available now exclusively at Amazon.com and ArkivMusic.com and as a download through all major digital service providers. The CD will be released nationwide onJanuary 22. The DVD and Blu-ray will be available on February 5.

Tony Award-winning star of theater, film, and television - will join this year's edition of the New York Philharmonic's annual New Year's Eve celebration, La Vie Parisienne, narrating Saint-Sae?ns's Carnival of the Animals. December 15, 2015 – Richmond, Virginia Join the Richmond Symphony, Music Director Steven Smith, and members from the Virginia Opera Herndon Foundation Emerging Artists Program for a special concert in the style of a Viennese New Year on Saturday, January 9 at 8pm and Sunday, January 10 at 3pm. A New Year in Vienna is a celebration filled with selected works including waltzes, polkas, and arias by Johann Strauss Jr., Franz Lehár, and Richard Strauss. This concert is part of the Altria Masterworks series and will be held at Richmond CenterStage's Carpenter Theatre.

Continuing a tradition inaugurated in 2006, the Met offers a holiday presentation sung in English with special discount pricing for families this December and January. This year's production, Rossini's madcap comedy The Barber of Seville, opens December 16 and stars Isabel Leonard and Ginger Costa-Jackson as Rosina; David Portillo and Taylor Stayton as Count Almaviva; Elliot Madore and David Pershall as Figaro; Valeriano Lanchas as Dr. Bartolo; and Robert Pomakov as Don Basilio. Antony Walker conducts all nine performances of the opera, which runs through January 2.

MasterVoices, formerly The Collegiate Chorale, was honored at the Martina Arroyo Foundation's11th Annual Gala.MasterVoices was recognized along with American couture designer Joanna Mastroianni and The Michel Maurel award-winner Ernst Rieser. Brian Kellow and Terrance McKnight hosted the gala, with performances by the young artists of Prelude to Performance, Jennifer Rowley, Michele Angelini and Cecilia Violetta Lopez (both featured in the October issue of Opera News), as well as other special guests.
