Mireille Asselin will sing the role of Adele in this evening's season premiere performance of Johann Strauss, Jr.'s Die Fledermaus, replacing Lucy Crowe, who is ill.

This will be Asselin's first Met performance of Adele, a role she has previously sung with Toronto's Canadian Opera Company and Opera Hamilton in Hamilton, Ontario. The Canadian soprano made her Met debut last season as Poussette in Massenet's Manon. Later this season, she will sing Celia in Mozart's Lucio Silla with Toronto's Opera Atelier.

Tonight's performance of Die Fledermaus, conducted by Met Music Director James Levine, also stars Susanna Phillips as Rosalinde, Susan Graham as Orlofsky, Toby Spence as Eisenstein, Dimitri Pittas as Alfred, Paulo Szot as Dr. Falke, Alan Opie as Frank, and Christopher Fitzgerald in his Met debut as Frosch.
