Manfred Honeck will return to the New York Philharmonic to conduct Johann Strauss II's Die Fledermaus Overture; Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5, Turkish, with Augustin Hadelich as soloist; and Brahms's Symphony No. 4. The program of works by Austrian and German composers, featuring an Austrian conductor and German violinist, takes place Thursday, May 28, 2015, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, May 29 at 2:00 p.m.; and Saturday, May 30 at 8:00 p.m.

On March 27 & 28, 2015, Co-Artistic Directors, Gelsey Kirkland and Michael Chernov presented, at Peter Norton Symphony Space, a double bill of Marius Petipa's ballets of another era, well chosen for their young company, a large number of whom are students at the Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet. Harlequinade, choreographed in 1900, to the music of Riccardo Drigo, is a classic comedy based on the characters of Commedia Dell'Arte. Cavalry Halt, created in 1896, to the music of Johann Armsheimer and Johann Strauss, is rarely performed today. I had never seen it.

New York, NY (March 4, 2015) – Diana Damrau and Vittorio Grigolo will sing their first Met performances of the title character in Massenet's Manon and her devoted lover, the Chevalier des Grieux. Emmanuel Villaume will conduct the first revival of Laurent Pelly's 2012 Met staging, also starring Russell Braun as Manon's cousin, Lescaut, and Nicolas Testé as the Chevalier's father, the Comte des Grieux. The opera opens March 9 and plays six performances through March 28.
