Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts will present An Evening with Jason Alexander and His Hair, a comedy variety show that features stand-up, music, improvisation and audience participation.

Mikhail Baryshnikov serves as the Honorary Chairman for Uptown Downtown, a special one-night-only extravaganza to benefit the Abrons Arts Center on October 14. Bringing together the brightest lights of New York City's uptown and downtown performance scenes, the evening will feature Kyle Abraham, Joey Arias, Jack Ferver + James Whiteside, Ellen Greene, Robert La Fosse, Bebe Neuwirth, Philippe Petit, and other special guests. It's one thing for a dancer over 40 to do a cabaret show. It's quite another for a dancer over 80 to attempt one. But that's exactly what still spry 83-year-old George Marcy is going to do-tapping his way over to Don't Tell Mama for the second time in three years-when he takes the stage later this month (September 23 and 29, both at 8pm) for his new show, I Wish I Were Twins. Marcy's latest cabaret effort is being director by famed Broadway Musical star and Marcy's good friend Carol Lawrence. The Musical Director/Pianist is Christine Sutin, with Boots Maleson on bass, and Aaron Russell on drums.

The opening night reception of the highly anticipated U.S. premiere of the Royal Ballet's production of The Metamorphosis at The Joyce Theater, starring acclaimed Royal Ballet principal dancer Edward Watson, directed/choreographed by Arthur Pita, is set for Tuesday, September 17 at 9:15pm at the Chelsea restaurant (address given upon RSVP).

SASHA DE SOLA, soloist of the San Francisco Ballet, and TIIT HELIMETS, principal dancer of the San Francisco Ballet, will appear as guest artists in the Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet's production of The Nutcracker on December 7 and 8, 2013 at the Riverview Theatre in Shreveport, Louisiana.

New York City Ballet will open its 2013-2014 season tonight, September 17 with six performances of Peter Martins' full-length production of Swan Lake. Set to Tschaikovsky's score and featuring sets and costumes by the acclaimed Danish painter Per Kirkeby, the production was last performed by NYCB in the fall of 2011 to sold-out houses.
