Jason Alexander to Bring One-Man Show to Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, 10/26

By:

Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts will present An Evening with Jason Alexander and His Hair, a comedy variety show that features stand-up, music, improvisation and audience participation.

Two performances will be offered on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets are available for $79, $59 and $49 online at www.ScottsdalePerformingArts.org or through (480) 499-TKTS (8587).

Jason Alexander portrayed the much-loved character George Costanza on the hit television series Seinfeld - universally and ironically referred to as "the show about nothing" - a sitcom whose popularity seems to have had an endless reign. Beyond Seinfeld, Alexander's career is one that defines diversity, having participated in all forms of the arts, from live performance on Broadway, to stand-up comedy, film, television and even directing.

Alexander's Broadway debut came in the original production of Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along. He starred on Broadway five times, and eventually was hired to write the libretto for Jerome Robbins' Broadway in which he played 14 different characters, earning him the Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Tony awards. Audiences have enjoyed his many stage performances, most notably his acclaimed run alongside Martin Short in Mel Brook's The Producers.

Alexander's film credits include the box office smash hit Pretty Woman, Shallow Hal, The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, North and The Paper. His other television work includes guest starring on the HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm and Dream On, for which he was nominated for an Emmy Award. Alexander has received a total of seven Emmy nominations along with numerous other honors. Among these are four Golden Globe nominations, the American Television Award, two American Comedy Awards for "Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series," "Best Actor in a Comedy Series" voted by the Screen Actors Guild and the Julie Harris Award for Lifetime Achievement by the Actors Fund.
