The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) has confirmed that due a schedule conflict resulting from participation in an upcoming Broadway production, Mandy Patinkin has withdrawn from his engagement with the Orchestra, slated for January 22 at The Music Center at Strathmore and January 23-25, 2015 at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. In his place, the BSO welcomes actor Jason Alexander, best known for his portrayal as George Costanza on the hit series 'Seinfeld,' in addition to his lengthy Broadway career. BSO Principal Pops Conductor Jack Everly will conduct the program, featuring music and humor as Alexander reminisces about his remarkable and versatile career on the stage and screen, and performs songs from several Broadway favorites, including Music Man, Pippin and Merrily We Roll Along.

Libertine Idol Productions has announced that COMING: A ROCK MUSICAL OF BIBLICAL PROPORTIONS, an irreverent, darkly comedic view of the Biblical Book of Revelation, with book, lyrics and music by Erik Ransom, direction by Rachel Klein and music direction and arrangement by Charles Czarnecki, will begin performances on August 8 - 22, at Theatre 80 (80 St. Mark's Place), as part of the New York International Fringe Festival. www.comingthemusical.com

Broadway and television actress, Sondra Lee, made a special trip to Glen Ridge to have a talkback with the cast of Gas Lamp Academy of Performing Arts's Peter Pan on Tuesday, July 15. Sondra Lee originated the role of Tiger Lilly in the 1954 Broadway production of Peter Pan as well as the 1955, 1956 and 1960 television broadcasts of Peter Pan working along side the incomparable Mary Martin.

New York Live Arts today announced further programming details for the suite of all-new world premiere works created by 2012-2014 Resident Commissioned Artist(RCA) Kyle Abraham, including a fourth, previously unannounced ensemble work. Known for creating “voluptuous movement phrases with touches of dance-theater” (The New York Times) Abraham and his company, Abraham.In.Motion, will present four works-one evening-length, two ensemble works and one trio-over two programs titled The Watershed and When the Wolves Came In at New York Live Arts from September 23 through 27 and September 30 through October 4, 2014. Exploring two totemic triumphs in the international history of the civil rights, the 150 year anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation and the 20 year anniversary of the abolishment of apartheid in South Africa, the works feature visual design by acclaimed conceptual artist Glenn Ligon and original music performed live by world renowned jazz artist Robert Glasper, accompanied by two musicians and a vocalist.

Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) announces the Fall 2014 performance season, which runs September 17 to December 18. The BAC Presents series will feature the World, U.S., and New York Premieres of contemporary theater, dance, music, and multimedia works that have either been commissioned by BAC or created by artists who have been in residence at BAC. The season lineup also includes BAC Space 2014 -- a new initiative of BAC's Residency Program -- which reflects BAC's core mission to support artists at various stages of their artistic development, and expose audiences to innovative, contemporary new work.

BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center, the longest operating performance venue in lower Manhattan, presents Peter Cincotti, performing on Saturday, October 25 at 8PM, the first of four major concerts in the 2014-2015 Main Event Series.

Daniel Ulbricht/BALLET 2014 offers an exclusive opportunity for audiences to experience some of today's most remarkable ballet dancers in the intimate Ted Shawn Theatre at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, July 16-20. New York City Ballet Principal Dancer Daniel Ulbricht directs and performs with a select ensemble of top stars including Tyler Angle, Craig Hall, Robert Fairchild, Russell Janzen, Emily Kikta, Rebecca Krohn, Tiler Peck, Georgina Pazcoguin, and Teresa Reichlen. The program is equally impressive, including Christopher Wheeldon's Liturgy, danced to Arvo Pärt's ”Fratres;” Two Hearts, a collaboration between Benjamin Millepied and composer Nico Muhly; Furiant, created by NYCB Soloist Justin Peck; Sunshine, a solo for Ulbricht by Larry Keigwin; the world premiere of Opus 19. Andante, a duet by critically acclaimed young choreographer Emery LeCrone; and the classic Fancy Free, the first ballet created by Jerome Robbins and Leonard Bernstein in 1944, which subsequently inspired the full-length musical On the Town. New York Stage and Film and Vassar College, this summer celebrating the 30th year of their Powerhouse Theater collaboration, previously announced that Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Kyra Sedgwick would lead the cast of Academy Award and Tony Award winner John Patrick Shanley's new play The Danish Widow, which premieres today, July 16, and continues through July 27, 2014 at Hallie Flanagan-Davis Powerhouse Theater at Vassar College. Shanley also directs the cast which also includes multitalented Broadway vets Craig Bierko and Matt McGrath, as well as stage and screen actress Annika Boras.

The New Victory Theater, New York's premier performing arts venue for kids and families, announces Victory Dance, a pilot initiative to provide FREE dance performances to New York City kids this summer. A three-week series serving New York City day camps and school programs from today, July 16 to August 1, 2014, Victory Dance will feature a cross-section of New York choreographers and companies in more than a dozen pieces specifically curated for young audiences. Through Victory Dance, New York City kids will have the opportunity to meet with choreographers and dancers, as well as see these incredible artists and companies present their very best work.
