On April 8, 2016, at 8:00PM, The New York Pops took center stage at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage in The Music of John Williams: From Spielberg to Star Wars. Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke lead the orchestra in a celebration of the work of legendary film composer John Williams, with a strong focus on his collaborations with Academy Award-winning director Steven Spielberg. The orchestra breathed life into some of cinema's most iconic scores, including selections from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Jurassic Park. The concert also included a look at Williams' seminal scoring of the Star Wars films, from their beginnings in the 1970s to today's The Force Awakens. Ghostlight Records has released the original cast recording of the world premiere musical FIRST DAUGHTER SUITE -- written by Michael John LaChiusa and directed by Kirsten Sanderson. The physical CD will be online and in stores today, April 1.

There are two sides to every love story, as evidenced in the upcoming Sierra Stages production of "THE LAST FIVE YEARS", an emotionally powerful and intimate musical about the ups and downs of a relationship and marriage between two 20-somethings (Cathy, an aspiring actress, and Jamie, an aspiring writer) over the course of five years in New York City. The show plays for eight performances only from April 28 through May 8 at the Off Center Stage in Grass Valley, and is directed by Susan Mason, with musical direction by Ken Getz, who conducts the 6-person band. The cast includes local actors Jonathan Hansard and Tinley Ireland.
