Besides giving us ridiculously talented creators, entertainment, reason to live, etc., one great dynamic of our Broadway community is that we have a very active presence on Twitter. This is one of the few platforms on which performers, writers, and fans can all interact, usually throwing witty and often satirical one-liners at one another. It's one of the things that makes our community such a special place to be a part of.

It has been almost five years since Next to Normal played its final Broadway performance, but the show lives on! Just this week, some of the original Broadway cast (Alice Ripley, Louis Hobson and Jennifer Damiano) traveled to Buenos Aries to preform with the Argentinean cast- Casi Normales. Like all of the theatre community, BroadwayWorld is shocked and saddened to learn of the untimely passing of 21-year-old Les Miserables performer Kyle Jean-Baptiste after an accident at his mother's home on Friday night. Many women have taken to social media to celebrate the day by posting photos of themselves flexing in honor of the iconic World War II era Rosie the Riveter. Rosie was symbolic of the millions of American women who kept the country running while many young men were over seas fighting. The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) is proud to announce the performer lineup for Women of Note, a one-night-only concert event celebrating the women writers who are changing the landscape of musical theatre. Women of Note will take place at The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 W. 42nd St.) on Monday, July 20 at 8:00 pm. The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) has announced the lineup for Tom Kitt and Friends, a one-night-only concert event featuring Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer and lyricist Tom Kitt (Next to Normal, If/Then, High Fidelity). Broadway's Next To Normal, which won the Pulitzer in 2009, originated in 2005 at NYMF as Feeling Electric - and for one night only Kitt will reunite with cast members from both productions, presenting an array of songs from each. Performers include Next to Normal stars Tony-Award Winner Alice Ripley, Tony-Award Nominee Jennifer Damiano, and Louis Hobson, Feeling Electric stars Amy Spanger and Joe Cassidy, as well as Ben Schrader, Jonathan Dokuchitz, and Adrienne Warren. Tom Kitt and Friends will take place at PTC Performance Space (555 W. 42nd Street, New York, NY 10036) on Monday, July 13 at 8:00 pm. Tickets are available now at www.nymf.org/tickets.

The Public Theater's Free Shakespeare in the Park production of The Tempest officially opened last night, June 16, and runs through Sunday, July 5, 2015. In The Tempest, Shakespeare's classic about young love, old enemies, and the eternal magic of storytelling, Prospero, exiled to a fantastical island, unleashes a churning storm to shipwreck the traitor brother who stole his throne and settle the score once and for all. But bitter revenge is upended by newfound love in this sublime masterpiece that proves we are all 'such stuff as dreams are made on.'
