As I'm conditioning my hair and applying every essential oil known to man on my scalp, I am reflecting on the production I saw yesterday evening. I had the pleasure of seeing 'da Kink in My Hair at the Horizon Theatre in Atlanta. The play was nothing short of amazing.

From long-running international sell-outs to a TV show, 'DA KINK IN MY HAIR by Trey Anthony sweeps into Horizon Theatre in Atlanta this summer beginning tonight, July 15. A musical sensation, 'da Kink tells of love, hope, survival and redemption through eight women's trials and celebrations. Winner of 4 NAACP Theatre Awards and named Critics Choice by the London Evening Standard, 'DA KINK IN MY HAIR will move, inspire and delight. Synchronicity Theatre presents THE LAST TIME WE WERE HERE, a new folk-rock musical, by Jeremiah Parker Hobbs and Jessica De Maria. This special event runs for one weekend only, June 17-19 at Synchronicity Theatre in Midtown Atlanta. Performances are at 8pm Friday and Saturday and 5pm Sunday.

GET and Atlanta favorite David Crowe will be directing, and promises a Romeo & Juliet that will be appreciated by both the novice and the Shakespearean scholar. This evening, Suzi Bass Awards, Inc. revealed nominations for the 2014-2015 Atlanta professional theatrical season. The Suzi Nomination Party, which rotates venues, was hosted this year by Horizon Theatre. Guest announcers included the ladies of The Weird Sisters Theatre Project: Kelly Criss, Veronika Duerr, Jaclyn Hofmann, Tiffany Porter, and Megan Rose.

This long-loved show is now poised to touch in new ways a generation that was around when it opened on Broadway in the early 60s, and an entirely new generation as well.
