Tickets to Lincoln Center Theater's production of the new musical WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN will go on sale to the general public Monday, August 30.

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop, Artistic Director and Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) has announced that Justin Guarini will join de'Adre Aziza, Laura Benanti, Danny Burstein, Nikka Graff Lanzarone, Patti LuPone, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Mary Beth Peil and Sherie Rene Scott in the cast of its upcoming production of the new musical WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN, based on the film by Pedro Almodóvar, with a book by Jeffrey Lane, music and lyrics by David Yazbek and direction by Bartlett Sher.

All offers are said to be out to Sherie Rene Scott and other performers (that they are keeping under tabs) and a full casting announcement is expected in the coming days.

Old Courthouse Theatre (49 Spring Stree SW, Concord) is holding auditions for the comedy-musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels May 23 and 24 at 7-9pm. Dirty Rotten Soundrels by David Yazbek and Jeffrey Lane is based on the popular 1988 film about two fraudsters, Lawrence Hameson and Freddy Benson, living in the French Riviera. 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' will be directed by Danny Weathers with musical direction by Michael Fauss and choreography by Penny Leto. The musical has a book by Jeffrey Lane with music and lyrics by David Yazbek. The musical is based on the movie of the same name starring Michael Caine and Steve Martin. It ran on Broadway for almost 2 years and was nominated for 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

Variety reports today that John Guare's FREE MAN OF COLOR, which will premiere at Lincoln Center next season, is the recipient of a $100,000 grant from National Actors Theater Foundation. The Tony Randall Theatrical Fund has granted Lincoln Center an additiona, undisclosed amount of money to help support it's production of non-profit shows. Both organizations are run by late actor Tony Randall's daughter, Heather.

The New York Daily News is reporting that Spanish director Pedro Almodovar told press at the Cannes Festival that Jessica Biel, who took part in the staged readings of the new musical, 'Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown' at Lincoln Center, has signed on for the full production.
