Some Like It Hot meets Twelfth Night in Ken Ludwig's delightful madcap comedy, Leading Ladies. Richard Israel directs a four-week run, tonight, June 8 through July 1, at International City Theatre in the Long Beach Performing Arts Center.

Cygnet's season 10 opens with MAN OF LA MANCHA, starring Sean Murray as Miguel deCervantes. The story of a knight who lives in a world of madness features a book by Dale Wasserman, lyrics by Joe Darion and music by Mitch Leigh. The Muny announced today principal casting for the third show of its 94th season, Disney's Aladdin (July 5-13), directed by Gary Griffin, and choreographed by Alex Sanchez. Tony® Nominees Robin de Jesus and John Tartaglia star as Aladdin and the Genie, respectively. Joining them will be Jason Graae as Omar, Curtis Holbrook as Iago, Francis Jue as Kassim, Eddie Korbich as Babkak, Samantha Massell as Jasmine, Ken Page as the Sultan, and Thom Sesma as Jafar.

The play was last performed professionally in Seattle at the Bathhouse Theatre in 1985, and through the kind auspices of the Seattle Public Theatre, Juno returns to the Bathhouse there via ESP's May 21 reading, tonight.

Stephen Sondheim's musical masterpiece, Sweeney Todd, stars Olivier Award winner Michael Ball as the infamous demon barber of Fleet Street and Oscar-nominated actress Imelda Staunton as his devoted accomplice Mrs. Lovett. Following sell-out success at Chichester Festival Theatre, the production transferred to London's West End on 10 March, 2012 for a limited season only, and must end on 22 September, 2012. Comedian Jason Manford will join the company as "Italian" barber Pirelli for four weeks in July this year, covering for Robert Burt, who is scheduled to sing at Glyndebourne Festival 2012.

The Jewish Museum presents Timbalooloo with Oran Etkin today, May 6 at 2:00 pm. Oran Etkin's whimsical concert for families blends global melodies and rhythms, from the music of Africa to klezmer and jazz. Etkin will play tunes from his 2010 album, Wake Up, Clarinet! and will create musical connections between Africa and Israel in conjunction with the Museum's current exhibition, Kehinde Wiley/The World Stage: Israel. Etkin's interactive performance effortlessly conveys sophisticated concepts in a fun musical language that kids of all ages can understand.

BWW Reviews: THE PITMEN PAINTERS at ACT Showcases Terrific Ensemble

I'll have to admit I'm a sucker for those stories where people find new and wondrous things about themselves and succeed against all odds. Yes, I'm a sap, which is why I found myself tearing up a few times during ACT's current production of "The Pitmen Painters". It's not the most glorious script I've seen but it is a wonderful story of overcoming your given station in life and I have to say has one hell of an ensemble performing it.

Theatre IV Presents SEUSSICAL, Now thru 5/20

Theatre IV announces the return of Seussical the musical, to the Sara Belle and Neil November Theatre, running tonight, April 27 through Sunday, May 20, 2012. Based on the work of Dr. Seuss with music and lyrics by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, this production offers a new generation of kids the timeless story of friendship and community. Director, Chase Kniffen, calls Seussical, "the perfect family musical that will both touch and entertain all ages, from four to four hundred." Seussical is one of several Theatre IV offerings in the Minds Wide Open: Virginia Celebrates Children and the Arts initiative.
